IC Philanthropy 🎾 International Clubs’ Philanthropy Foundation
🌍 17,000 young people helped through tennis?

The IC Philanthropy Foundation is the charitable arm of the Council of International Lawn Tennis Clubs (ICs). Its main purpose is to teach tennis to disadvantaged children and disabled young people. We provide grants to ICs around the world for facilities, equipment and coaching as part of programmes to help disadvantaged children and young people with learning difficulties, in sections of society

where there are few opportunities and little funding for sport. Some of these programmes provide education classes and meals, and work with local communities and families. Each programme has a different emphasis, depending on resources and the needs of the children. Our goal is to teach new life skills through tennis and to give children the belief system that anything is possible even in difficult circumstances. Currently we support 15 programmes world-wide and have reached over 17,000 children… so far. We are funded through the generosity of individuals, private foundations and fundraising activities and rely on the hard work of our volunteers across the five continents in which we operate. Registered charity number: 1167925

Since its founding in 2014, IC Chile has supported more than 650 children from low-income backgrounds through its Tennis School at Santa Rosa de Lo Barnechea Parish School, combining sport with values that last a lifetime, including perseverance, ambition, and fair play.

In 2025, 49 students from Grades 1 to 8 took part in the programme, forming a vibrant and committed group. Across weekly sessions, they developed key skills such as coordination, balance, and concentration, while learning the fundamentals of the game — from movement on court to forehands, backhands, and smashes.

Just as importantly, the programme fosters friendship, motivation, and a positive approach to competition in a supportive environment.

The Tennis School is led by Professor Matías Valenzuela, supported by IC members Eduardo Moraga and Pedro Ramírez, whose dedication continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young players.

This year, IC Chile aims to expand its impact through new partnerships, competitive opportunities for students, and greater integration into IC Chile activities.

These efforts continue to demonstrate how tennis can open doors — both on and off the court.

In 2025, IC Philanthropy continued to support life-changing opportunities through tennis, creating spaces for connection, growth, and inclusion 🎾

Through our partnership with the Baccigalupo Foundation in Argentina and the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) in the USA, young people with intellectual disabilities took part in a powerful cultural exchange. Over six months, “Student Ambassadors” shared videos, letters, and experiences that culminated in an emotional live Zoom that brought everyone together.

We also celebrated four new graduates of the Sports Assistant Course, a programme designed to equip young people with intellectual disabilities with practical skills to support tennis coaching. With 12 graduates now working in clubs, the impact is already being felt.

Inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do. Through the “Playing Is a Right” programme, students from mainstream schools join sessions at the Tennis School, building understanding, friendships, and shared experiences on and off the court.

At the Tennis School itself, over 40 children and young people with intellectual disabilities learn, play, and thrive, supported by dedicated coaches and volunteers.

Together, these programmes show the power of sport to open doors, build confidence, and create lasting connections. A huge thank you to everyone involved.

Ethiopia 🇪🇹

At Tariku and Desta Kids Education through Tennis Development (TDKET), the Wheelchair Tennis Program has seen remarkable growth over the past year. What began as an inclusion initiative has evolved into a thriving community, with twice-weekly training sessions empowering children to build confidence, independence and pride on and off the court.

Elsewhere, success in the library is just as important as performance on the court. Through a structured “Court to Library” model, students continue to meet academic milestones alongside elite tennis development proving that sport and education go hand in hand. 📚

Throughout the 2025 competitive season, the TDKET flag was carried across East Africa with multiple tournament wins, showcasing world-class training standards. Momentum continues as selected athletes prepare for international summer tournaments in Germany and the upcoming Addis Ababa Federation Tournament. 🏆

IC Philanthropy is proud to support programmes that combine education, opportunity and ambition developing confident young leaders for the future.

Education. Inclusion. Excellence. 🎾📚

In 2025, more than 2,318 Aboriginal young people across 59 remote and regional communities in Western Australia and the Northern Territory engaged in the Murlpirrmarra Connection Indigenous Tennis and Learning Program. 📚🏆

🌍 IC Philanthropy: Impact Across the World

📍 Askep — Cambodia 🇰🇭

We continue our global IC Philanthropy series in Kep, Cambodia, where Askep has delivered a powerful year of tennis, learning and growth.

In 2025, tennis activities at the KTC structure in Kep engaged over 100 children from the Jardin des Languescommunity — fostering not only a love of the sport, but also discipline, teamwork and healthy competition.

Key highlights include:
🎾 A strong partnership with Au-delà des Rizières, ensuring continuity and accessibility of the tennis programme in Kep
🌏 The launch of “Au-delà de Kep” with Terre d’Impact, expanding tennis opportunities to children across Cambodia — from the capital to remote rural communities
🤝 Close engagement with parents to support a shared vision for children’s development
🧼 A strong focus on life skills, including hygiene, health and mutual respect, integrated seamlessly into on-court learning

What stands out most is the programme’s holistic approach — using tennis as a tool to develop confident, respectful and well-rounded young people.
As Askep looks ahead, the commitment remains on nurturing not just better players, but children equipped with skills and values that will carry beyond the court.

🌍 IC Philanthropy: Impact Across the World

We’re proud to be kicking off a new series spotlighting IC Philanthropy programmes around the world, starting in Kenton-on-Sea, South Africa 🇿🇦

Now in its 11th year, the Kenton-on-Sea programme continues to provide consistent coaching, life skills education and meaningful opportunities for children from the local township.

In 2025 alone:
📣Young players travelled to compete in junior tournaments and community events, often covering hundreds of kilometres
✅Attendance remained high, with many children still involved after 4–5 years in the programme
🎓Participants continued to engage in Life Skills classes at school, reinforcing confidence, discipline and resilience

What stands out most is continuity; children staying engaged, enthusiastic, and supported over the long term. With exciting plans already in place for the Class of 2026, the programme continues to look forward while building on deep local foundations.

Our sincere thanks to Leonie Grondel and the IC South Africa team, and to the IC Philanthropy Committee, for their continued commitment and care.

We are celebrating the successful conclusion of the Cultural Exchange between IC Philanthropy Foundation’s programmes in Uruguay and Rwanda.

The aim is to unite children in different parts of the world to help them learn about different cultures and histories. Our hope is that these Student Ambassadors continue to share their lives with Exchange friends following the formal programme.

The children shared with each other via letters and videos which were uploaded to a Google drive site and the programme ended with a live Zoom exchange. Topics covered: hobbies, culture, what school and family life are like, foods they enjoy, and what they do for fun.

The smiles on the children's faces as they learned about each other’s cultures and their ability to share about themselves was heartwarming to see.

The is building much more than tennis players...

What began just over two years ago has become a movement reaching more than 3,000 children — many from Rwanda’s most underserved communities.

Under Joseline’s leadership, our coaches and volunteers have used tennis not only to spark joy and ambition, but create spaces to play, learn and grow, helping young people build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and other essential life skills.

Most children participate because they love the game whilst others are focused on improving their skills and competing. Several juniors have been selected to represent Rwanda in East African competition.

This progress reflects the powerful collaboration between TRCF and the IC family. Thank you to every supporter, partner, coach, and volunteer for making this work possible.
