1st Warley Boys' Brigade

1st Warley Boys' Brigade A page for all past and present members of the 1st Warley BB, and friends of the company. We meet in the church centre and hall.

The Boys' Brigade provide opportunities for children and young people to learn, grow and discover in a safe, fun and caring environment which is rooted in the Christian faith. We are the oldest, still operational, uniformed youth group in Havering! 1st Warley was founded in 1890. Whilst, by tradition, we have always been a smaller group, we have a strong sense of family and community. We welcome

both boys and girls, from across Brentwood, Hutton and Warley. Depending on the time of year we sometimes use the modern kitchen, large church gardens or the Warley Playing Fields. As a group, we enjoy games, craft and, in the summer, cricket. We are thrilled to have won our battalion's Christmas Card Competition over successive years!

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Jack Petchey earlier today. Sir Jack was a remarkable philanthropist whose generosity and dedication transformed the lives of countless young people in London and Essex. His unwavering support through the Jack Petchey Foundation has been instrumental in empowering opportunities for youth, supporting leaders and fostering their potential.

In particular, we are profoundly grateful for his foundation’s steadfast support of the Havering & Brentwood Boys' Brigade. Sir Jack’s commitment to our cause has left an indelible mark, providing opportunities and inspiration for our young members to grow and thrive.

Thank you, Sir Jack Petchey, for your many years of kindness and philanthropy. Your legacy will continue to inspire and uplift future generations.

Rest in peace, Sir Jack.
