Don’t preach at me... I just want to talk

Some years ago four friends were chatting about church and why it was so off-putting to so many. We reckoned it was partly to do the buildings, and also the odd things people do and say there. So we thought it would be good to have evenings when people could enjoy each other’s company, have fun (like playing Jenga), share food together and talk about whatever is on their minds. We chose the Cornerstone Café near the Coop in Grove, which is warm and has all the facilities we need. Over the past couple of years, we’ve shared our creative efforts and favourite music, talked about the stars and other universes, Jesus, ourselves and much more - and enjoyed a lot of very good food and friendly company.

In The Table, Paul Bayes describes the sort of thing: “Mostly the meeting is coffee, laughter, talk about cars, clothes, politics, families, sickness, problems, football, decisions; and then the conversation gets round to life. What’s up? Any problems?”

It’s always different, always interesting and always enjoyable. Nothing is fixed. Everyone, but EVERYONE is welcome - especially if church is not your thing!
