Grove WI held their Annual Meeting on 1 April. Ex-OFWI Treasurer, Julie Pearce, was ou teller. Di Thomas was re-elected as President for the coming year.

How useful are our ears? We can have them pierced to wear earrings, we push our hair behind our ears to keep it out of our eyes, and they help keep our glasses on! But of course they are important when we communicate with each other. It's horrible when they get blocked and we can't hear so well.
At their March meeting, Grove WI had a very informative talk by local audiologist, David Peel, about all things auricular and the importance of hearing checks, because hearing loss is an invisible disability that can isolate us.

The wonderful Charmaine entertained us perfectly, Pat produced her famous mulled wine, everyone brought a plate of food to share ... of course we had more than enough ... and we had our mega-raffle with amazing prizes.

So what do you do when your speaker has to cancel a couple of hours ahead of the meeting? You reach for your handy emergency quiz folder! And Grove WI still had a great night. Hopefully, our hall will have a projector by the new year. If it happens again, we will be turning to the learning hub for an interesting talk to show at the meeting.

At our October meeting, Grove WI had a fascinating talk from Jo Harvey from The Mix in Wantage. Many of us visit the premises on Mill St for the community fridge, or the repair cafe, but there's far more that The Mix is involved in ... Forest School, Wantage Market Garden, the community planters around Wantage, and in Grove almost everything that is grown is edible and we can help ourselves. There's even the Draught Busters who will help you to plug the places where the heat is escaping. The list just goes on!

Grove WI welcomed Karen and Brett to their September meeting who told us all about the WVS and their contribution to the war effort. A very enjoyable evening all round.

With the 80th anniversary of VJ day in just over a week's time, Grove WI had a fascinating and informative talk about the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission at their August meeting.
