Regrettably the Glass Recycling Bin has now been removed from Wanlockhead.

Unfortunately, despite the facility being provided by D&G Council for glass recycling it hasn't been used for its intended purpose.

We appreciate that this may be an inconvenience for those who have used it responsibly, alternative recycling facilities for glass are available in:

Leadhills -adjacent to the primary school

Sanquhar Recycling Centre, St Mary's Street, Sanquhar

*A Polite Reminder Regarding the Recycling Bin* Glass Only

We would like to remind residents and visitors to Wanlockhead that the recycling bin situated on the flat area as you enter the village is not for general rubbish, household waste or fly-tipping.

Unfortunately, a considerable amount of rubbish continues to be dumped around the bin. Today, volunteers from the Museum of Lead Mining have spent their time clearing the area and taking over 20 bags of rubbish to Sanquhar Recycling Centre. Whilst we are extremely grateful to these volunteers, they should not be expected to spend their time clearing up after others.

There is a large sign clearly displayed at the recycling point explaining what the bins are intended for. Please take a moment to read it and use the facilities responsibly.

If you bring it in, please take it away or dispose of it properly.
