Wanlockhead Community Council were not made aware in advance that the B797 will be closed during the coming week.

We understand this may cause disruption to businesses, residents, commuters, and visitors.

Please contact the roads department at D&G Council direct for the most up-to-date information on this and the Community Council will provide information as soon as we receive it.

Update on the B797 Mennock Pass.

Wanlockhead Community Council is pleased to share a long-awaited update from Dumfries & Galloway Council regarding progress on the Mennock Pass B797.

A tender process has now been completed by D&G Council and a programme of works will be hopefully be starting within the next 3-4 weeks or sooner.

Discussions are still ongoing with contractors for structural repairs to embankments at various points.

We will try to keep everyone update as we have more information, but it's a start.

Community Consultation Ballot Results. Proposed Glensalloch Wind Farm.

The opening and counting of the ballot was witnessed by Steve Johnston, Chairperson of Leadhills Community Council.

The ballot box was opened this evening at 19:00.

A total of 54 ballot papers were counted, with the following results:

• 47 opposed the proposed Glansalloch Wind Farm Development
• 6 in favour
• 1 undecided

Please note that this reflects today’s ballot only. Email submissions will remain open until 30th May. The overall result will be formally recorded at the Wanlockhead Community Council meeting on 31st May, in line with the Unified Statement.

Your views matter, come along and have your say tomorrow.

Further information on the Wanlockhead Community Council consultation ballot taking place
tomorrow, Wednesday 29th April, 10am–7pm at the Community Centre.

Anyone aged 16 and over, including residents, second homeowners and local businesses, can
vote on the day. If you are under 16, you are very welcome to attend and leave comments.

If you are unable to attend, you can still have your views recorded using the email address
provided on the leaflet delivered to your door. This option will remain open until 30th May.

The overall results will be formally recorded at the Community Council meeting on the 31st May,
along with our commitment under the Unified Statement.
