The general committee met last night and confirmed the decision that Cadet Week would be run by the training centre part of the club. Although the final shape of the new Race Training event is still to be confirmed it will not be Cadet Week in its traditional form. The following changes are likely although not confirmed:
1. The event will be staffed by paid RYA instructors not volunteers or parents/grandparents. This will undoubtedly have an implication on the cost.
2. It is likely to make use of club boats not personal boats, as it is a training event. Therefore, there may well not be a laser/fast fleet.
3. There will be no boat trip or social event at Birch Hall. There will be some social programme although it may well not involve the whole family.
4. The format of the racing will be different so be prepared to learn your flag signals and to sail fewer longer races.
5. The new organising committee have not been involved with Cadet Week in the past, nor attempted to involve those who have been, so if you decide to attend expect something completely different and unlike the event you have come to love.
Many people may be saddened by this news. Every effort has been made to reverse the decision but unfortunately as of last night it has been confirmed.
