2,227 parents joined us at Songs & Smiles last year and 91% agreed that the sessions brightened their week.

If you’re part of that remaining 9% - we’ve got your back. We’re doing our best to make sure you don’t end up at another relaxed, joyful session with a high risk of smiling, making new friends and biscuit consumption. We’d hate to ruin your day.

If, by happenstance, you ARE the kind of parent who enjoys all of the above, click the link to book your spot for the Autumn term starting next week!

This summer, we had the absolute joy of partnering with Newham Libraries to bring Songs & Smiles to four local libraries as part of their summer programme. This intergenerational project connected local families with little, medium and big kids with the wonderful residents of Summerdale Court and Westgate House care homes for music and fun.

The sessions were such fun, and were such a success that the libraries have already invited our care home friends back for a special event this autumn! 🍂✨

A huge thank you to the fantastic team at Newham Libraries, the care home staff who helped
make transport seamless, the wonderful .theresa who led the sessions and every single
family and resident who came along and filled the space with music and joy.

Here’s to creating more magical, intergenerational moments across our communities! 👵👶🎶

Motherhood can be busy, wonderful, and sometimes a little isolating. Volunteering with your local Songs & Smiles session is an easy way to bring a whole new kind of joy to your weekly routine, while lighting up the day for other mums, little ones and local care home residents.

We’re recruiting volunteers to help us keep this magic growing:

🤝 Group Welcomers: Be the warm, reassuring face at the door. You’ll welcome families and
care home residents, help everyone settle in, and ensure the room feels like a friendly, safe
space.

📣 Joy Spreaders: Help us share the love! You’ll spread the word across local mum groups,
playgroups, and community spots so more families and residents can experience the joy.

Take Kaisha’s word👇for it - our baby and toddler groups are a brilliant experience for everyone involved!

Whether you want to support a local group in person or champion us in your local community,
you’ll be directly creating these weekly moments where young and old light up together 💫

“Her artwork is always beautiful, and I love showing my friends what she has created each month.” 💖

For Margaret at Clevedon Court, receiving her post from her young pen pal Zoe is also a monthly highlight! And as staff member Deb shares, Margaret gets just as much joy out of completing her own art projects to send back.

This is what Crafting Connections is all about! Bridging generations through creativity and the joy of posting and receiving mail - a fun rarity in this day and age! 💌

There’s a few spaces left for new September sign ups, so please do register your interest through the link if you’d like to find an older friend for your child

Three years ago, Eleanor lost three of her four grandparents all in the same year. That meant
her baby daughter, Rosie, never got to meet them.

In September last year, when Rosie was just two months old, Eleanor found out about Songs &
Smiles in Otley. Her late grandma and grandad lived in a care home and she knew they would
have loved a group like this, so she booked on as a gesture to their memory.

She knew Rosie was going to miss out on so much of the loving presence that her related
great-grandparents would have brought, so she thought this group might give Rosie a bit of that
experience back. But Eleanor didn’t realise just how much the session would give back to her
and Rosie.

Throughout this past year of Songs & Smiles, the sessions have supported Rosie’s development in every area. She gained confidence rolling, crawling, and standing, and became more sociable every day.

The biggest milestone came with Rosie’s very first words: “tap tap” and “pop”! Eleanor swears
by tapping the claves and popping the bubbles as the origins of these first words.

Alongside this, the new relationships they’ve created have given them so much. Eleanor shared: “The residents make us smile as much as we make them smile. It's our favourite time of the week.” While also sharing that the sessions leader, Charlotte, is an important part of why theycome back week after week.
“You are amazing…you’re just such a wonderful person and we love you!”

Eleanor and Rosie got to experience love and joy at Songs & Smiles - and we’re sure you can
too!

Booking is open for our new September term 🪩Join us to see your little one grow in the presence of many loving, honorary great-grandparents 💕
