We’ve had a busy night tonight up at Cubs! We’ve been working on our Pioneering and Teamwork Challenge badges!

Our Cubs had 3 bases working on different types of knots, why we use them and even creating a floating chair to test out how well their knots held up 🪢

This week, our Cubs were working towards their International Badge and celebrating Burns Night.

They started off learning about Robert Burns, some facts about a traditional Burns Night and wider facts about Scotland, decorating a Scottish Flag and learning about the Loch Ness Monster before trying some Haggis with Mash and Gravy, Irn Bru and Shortbread. We then tried our hand at our version of a Sheaf toss!

Beavers had great fun making their water filters and seeing how it cleaned the water. Learning how they could replicate this at camps and how some people don’t have clean water!

What a brilliant evening with 1st Pelsall Cubs as they worked towards their Money Skills badge. We started with Advert Savvy, where the Cubs made a cartoon about their weekend and then watched a short video to discuss product placement and different types of advertising. It sparked great conversations about how adverts influence choices and why spotting techniques matters.

Next up was the Budget Building “Captains” game. Cubs competed to win tokens, which they then used to buy the resources needed to build towers — a fun, hands-on way to practise budgeting, prioritising and making decisions with limited funds.

As part of the session, one Cub from each six stepped up as team leader, putting their leadership skills into action and helping to organise and encourage their teammates. This also counted towards the Teamwork challenge, because every activity relied on cooperation, communication and shared decision-making.

Our Scouts had a great end of term night at Alvar Laser and Go Karting, with some speedy top laps! Well done to everyone that gave a new activity a go. It was a lovely way to end the year.

Last night at Cubs we had our Christmas Party - with a full roast, lots of games, crackers, party hats, music and the full works.

We've given out over 400 badges to Cubs this term so they've definitely earned this night! Thanks to everyone that comes each week and our great leaders and parent helpers who support.
