One Palfrey Big Local, which covers approximately half of the Palfrey ward is one of a 150 Big Local resident led programmes being run by Local Trust, across the country. We have received money from the Big Lottery Fund to support residents to improve Palfrey. The aim of One Palfrey Big Local is to make Palfrey “a great place to live, work and visit”. We provide and support:

for all ages
• Half term & summer community activities/playscheme
• Community Chest funding
• ‘Palfrey Pound’ Business network
• Social enterprise support and grants
• Free learning, training and networking opportunities
• Resident led action initiatives
• Open days and fun days
• Volunteering opportunities
• Connecting professionals, residents and communities
• Referring and signposting residents
We are currently consultation on our new plan and residents have chosen the following priority areas on:
Investing in community activities and services for all:
• Regular activities
• Community Events
• Trips
• Celebrations
• Physical and mental health programmes
Investing in our environment:
• Improve community safety
• Tackle litter
• Tackle fly tipping
• Invest in play equipment in parks
• Support residents to become eco-friendly
Investment in young people:
• Develop youth programmes to fulfil their potential
• Addressing youth violence
• Educational support for children and families
Investing in Digital Inclusion:
• Addressing inequalities through education and training
• Support to access devices
• Support access the internet
• Training support

The plan will be delivered in partnership with Palfrey residents, local community and voluntary groups as well as strengthening partnerships with statutory agencies. The direction and delivery of the plan will be steered by The OPBL Partnership group which is made up of residents.
