Caldmore Village Festival A truly multicultural festival in Caldmore! Caldmore is a multi cultural area on the edge of Walsall’s town Centre.

For many years it has been the natural home of Walsall’s artists and artisans from many cultures around the world, but it is also one of the most economically deprived neighbourhoods in Walsall. The concept of the Caldmore Village Festival has been developed through to the creation of the Caldmore Village Festival Group. The Festival Group was set up as an independent, voluntary body in March 2009 and has pledged to organise an annual Caldmore Village Festival, which is relevant and of the highest quality as well as being sustainable. In its first year the festival committee involved a wide number of community groups in planning for the festival. Local groups organised a range of community cultural events leading up to the festival weekend and during the weekend itself…

Founded in 2009, Caldmore Village Festival Group (CVF) is a community organisation dedicated to regenerating the Caldmore and Palfrey areas of Walsall. Our mission is to foster understanding between diverse communities, build strong community cohesion, and improve the local area.

Over the years, we have established Cultures of Walsall, a vibrant multicultural festival celebrating the rich diversity of our town. We are also proud to have created and nurtured the Caldmore Community Garden, a much-loved green oasis in the heart of our urban landscape. As the only green space in a densely built-up area, the garden serves as a welcoming place for residents, featuring a children’s play area, treehouse, growing spaces, a sensory garden, orchard, and a wild area for nature exploration. At the Garden, we run a wealth of family activities, community events and projects.

FRSTIVAL PRIZE DRAW

The moment you have all been waiting for. The Festival prize draw. During the CULTURES OF WALSALL festival, visitors were invited to visit all the stalls and answer a question that each stall posed. In return they had to collect stickers and fill in their card. All those returning their card were entered into a prize draw. We had hundreds of entries for the three prizes of £25 gift tokens. In the photo you can see the draw of the three lucky winners who will be notified this week! Thank you everyone who attended the festival and special thanks to those who entered the prize draw.

THANK YOU

Caldmore Village Festival Group, who organised the Cultures of Walsall event on 4th June at Palfrey Park, would like to formally thank all the funders, volunteers and partner organisations who helped make it such a success in again bringing together the diverse local community following a three year break due to the Pandemic.

First of all, we wish to extend our thanks to all the Group’s staff and volunteers as without them there could not have been a festival. These people worked tirelessly to make the day a big success.

We are proud of our longstanding partnership with Walsall Council and whg who were crucial to its success. Both were keen to see the return of our annual festival to bring the community together after the Pandemic. Councillor Garry Perry, Cabinet Member for Communites, attended and presented sports trophies despite the loss of his mother during the week before the event. We were also well supported by senior Council Officers from the Council's Resilient Communities and Clean and Green teams..

Mohammed Arif, Chair of CVF Board, said, "CVF's Cultures of Walsall festival is a unique annual event that brings together a wide variety of groups onto a single platform to celebrate the community’s diversity. I want to extend our thanks to everyone who participated in the event".
