🍂 Autumn Reminiscence at our Dementia Café 🍂

This week at our Dementia Café, we explored autumn through the senses with our “My Autumn Sensory Poem” activity.

Attendees shared what they see, hear, taste, smell and feel during autumn, which sparked lots of lovely reminiscence and conversation. From colourful falling leaves, crunchy leaves and bonfires, to fireworks, warm soup, stews, apple pie and custard. 🍎🔥🍲

We also shared memories of family traditions and cosy autumn days, before getting creative and making our own colourful autumn leaves using tissue paper. 🍁🎨

It was wonderful to see how a simple sensory activity could open up so many memories, stories and shared experiences.

A lovely afternoon of creativity, conversation, connection and reminiscence. ❤️

🌿 Healthy Body, Healthy Mind – 4 Week Programme 💚

That’s a wrap! Our Healthy Body, Healthy Mind four-week programme has now come to an end at the Community Engagement Centre. 💚

Over the four weeks, we explored a range of important topics, including understanding memory changes, healthy eating, staying active, and the importance of looking after our physical and mental wellbeing.

We also opened up conversations around stigma and culture, looking at how we can break down barriers, challenge misconceptions and encourage people to seek support and a diagnosis when they have concerns about their memory.

It has been fantastic to see people come together, share experiences and have open and honest conversations in a supportive environment.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the programme such a positive experience.

Let’s keep the conversations going, break the barriers and continue looking after our healthy bodies and healthy minds.

💚☕ Macmillan Coffee Afternoon at our Dementia Café ☕💚

What a lovely day we’ve had today bringing everyone together for our Macmillan Coffee Afternoon at the Dementia Café. 🥰

A big thank you to our EKTA Ladies Group, who supported us this morning by buying some of our homemade treats. 🧁💚

This afternoon we held the main event at our Dementia Café, where our members, and carers came together for a lovely afternoon of cake, coffee and good company.

We had a fantastic selection of homemade treats, including banana cake, lemon drizzle, chocolate cake, cheesecakes, banoffee, coconut cakes and sprinkle cakes - something for everyone! 🍰🧁

🎨🧩 A fantastic week at Aldridge & Community Engagement Centre Dementia Café! 💙

What a lovely week we’ve had filled with creativity, laughter and fun! Our café enjoyed watercolour painting, games and jigsaws, bringing everyone together for some wonderful moments of connection and enjoyment.

A huge thank you to our fantastic Coordinator, Shanae, and our wonderful volunteers for facilitating such engaging activities and creating a warm, welcoming space for everyone. 🌟

Our Dementia Cafés are a great opportunity for people living with dementia and their families and carers to meet others, enjoy activities and build friendships in a supportive environment.

Another lovely afternoon at our Dementia Café this week ☕💜

It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying a chat, sharing stories, and taking part in a range of activities together. The room was filled with laughter, friendship, and plenty of smiles.

Our Dementia Café provides a welcoming space where people living with dementia, their families, and carers can come together for companionship, support, and fun.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the session so enjoyable. We look forward to seeing you all again next time!
