We were very pleased to visit the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) History Month exhibition at Love Blakenall Community Hub today. It was exciting and important to see this exhibition in place and to reflect on histories, experiences and contributions that are too often overlooked.
A big well done to Walsall Archives and One Love Community Music and Arts for bringing this together. The exhibition offers an opportunity to learn more about the challenges, resilience and rich histories connected with GRT communities, while also reminding us how important integration, communication and mutual understanding are across all our neighbourhoods.

At Nash Dom, we are proud to support Roma communities, including many families across the South Localities. That is why it is so important to keep creating spaces where people can learn, connect and better understand one another.

One Love Community, Music & Arts has also shared “We Are Bloxwich Generations”, a video on their website that highlights local community stories and voices. Please do take a look and share it with others: https://www.onelovecommunity.org/videos/we-are-bloxwich-generations.

The exhibition is available during 16–27 June 2026 at three locations:

📍 Love Blakenall Community Hub, 79 Thames Road, Bloxwich, Walsall, WS3 1LZ
📍 Bloxwich Library
📍 Willenhall Library

The exhibition is available during the normal opening hours of each venue, so please check opening times before planning your visit.

We were so happy to host our Volunteers’ Week Celebration Event and spend the evening with volunteers from across the South Locality who give their time to support local community groups. 💛

It was lovely to come together, celebrate their contribution, and say thank you in person. Seeing your smiles and hearing your stories gave us even more motivation to keep going with the work we do too.

Events like this are such a good reminder of how important it is to support one another and recognise the people who help keep our communities strong, connected, and caring.

Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of spotlighting some truly inspiring volunteers and organisations across the South Locality. From supporting children and families, to improving health and well-being, building community connections, keeping our neighbourhoods clean and safe, and helping people feel welcomed, included and supported.

Volunteering comes in many forms, but at the heart of it is the same spirit of care, kindness and commitment to others. We are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers who give their time, energy and compassion to support our communities every day💛

To celebrate all volunteers and say thank you in person, we would love to invite you to our Volunteer Celebration Event as part of our Volunteers’ Week 2026 celebrations:
📅 Friday 12th June
⏰ 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
📍 Nash Dom Community Hub, Sun Street, Walsall, WS1 4AL

This is a chance for us to come together, celebrate your contribution, and show our appreciation. All nominated volunteers will also receive a thank-you gift bag as a small token of our gratitude.

The event is family-friendly, so please feel free to bring your children or family members along. There will be light refreshments available, and a bouncy castle for the little ones 🙌

supports residents across Walsall with practical advice around energy saving and climate action, and it is delivered through community hubs across the borough, including Nash Dom CIC.

We’re lucky to have a number of volunteers supporting the WEAP project at Nash Dom CIC, and Weronika and Mercy are two of them. They both support the provision in a range of helpful and creative ways – from creating crosswords, colouring sheets, and other printouts, to helping with feedback and generally supporting our Energy Café sessions.

Both have also completed WEAP training, which helps them contribute even more confidently to the project and the support we offer to local residents.

Volunteers like Weronika and Mercy make a real difference. Their time, care, creativity and willingness to get involved help strengthen our services and create a welcoming space for the community. It’s always wonderful to see volunteers grow in confidence while also doing something positive for others 🙌

Lorianna leads on the bilingual Ukrainian Kids Club at Nash Dom every second Saturday, creating a warm, welcoming space for children and parents to connect, integrate, and socialise 💛

While the club includes Ukrainian language and heritage, it’s open to everyone. It’s all about cultural exchange, a place where children can meet new friends, learn about different cultures, and share their own in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Clubs like this really matter in the community. They help families feel settled, build confidence, and create those everyday connections that make people feel they belong.

Thank you, Lorianna, for the time, care, and energy you bring to making this space possible. 🙌

Decio has been supporting the WES CIC Football group as a volunteer coach every Saturday without fail, even in bad weather. He kept the group going with real consistency and commitment and continued to give his time even when there were no incentives available to cover his expenses. That says a lot about his character and the pride he takes in doing something positive for others.
Decio has also helped motivate other members to bring new people along, including people from different ethnic backgrounds, helping to promote inclusion and community cohesion through sport. And while he has limited spoken English, he’s always done his best to coordinate the group, because his passion for football, and for bringing people together, is stronger than any language barrier.
A big thank you, Decio, for your dedication and the difference you’re making. 🙌
And a special mention to Wellbeing Empowered Solutions, groups like this have a real impact locally, supporting wellbeing, building friendships, and creating spaces where people feel welcome and connected.
