Something we experience a lot of is:

LAs refusing to assess a child. Parents appeal the decision. Tribunal directs the LA to carry out the EHC needs assessment. Once the EHC needs assessment is complete, the LA decides to issue an EHC plan.

It shouldn't have to be this way. This is a classic example of LAs gatekeeping. Refusing to assess and then issuing an EHC plan; utter nonsense!

We are a small charity with advocates of lived expereince making a huge difference to other families lives. Feedback such as that in the picture below is very much appreciated.

We offer an EHCP Check Service?

This is a one off service where we will check your child's EHC plan and provide advice and support on areas that would benefit from being amended to ensure the EHC plan is legally compliant.

Brilliant Tribunal decision received - LA refused to issue an EHC plan for a young autistic lady.

The LA had argued that an EHC needs assessment was not necessary. We represented the parents in that appeal which the Tribunal found in favour of parents.

The LA then argued the young ladies needs could be met from the resources normally available to mainstream schools. This, despite the junior school the girl attends and the prospective secondary school both pointing out that the provision required could not be met fully or sustained from the resources availble to mainstream schools.

Having considered all the evidence, the Tribunal has directed the LA to issue an EHC plan.
