Forward Carers were delighted to welcome Richard Parker - Mayor of the West Midlands, to discover how funding through Big Issue Invest will help more local carers balance caring responsibilities with work and everyday life.

The visit also afforded us the opportunity to showcase the valuable work already being done for unpaid Carers across the West Midlands, as well as a chance for Mayor to speak with Walsall based Carer Alun.

๐Ÿ’š โ€œMum was doing reasonably wellโ€ฆ but I wasnโ€™t.โ€

When Sami became a Carer again, this time for his mum, he found himself juggling caring, university and his own wellbeing. Eventually, he realised he couldnโ€™t carry everything alone.

Reaching out to Walsall Carers Hub became part of a wider support network that helped Sami prioritise his own wellbeing, feel less isolated and continue caring for his mum.

His message to other Carers is an important one:

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œNo Carer should feel alone. You matter just as much as the person you care for.โ€
