VODA AGM And VCSE Sector Awards 2026

Join us on Wednesday 11 November for an afternoon bringing together North Tyneside’s VCSE sector to reflect, connect and celebrate.

This year, we’ll hear from Louise Gray, Director of Public Health at North Tyneside Council, about plans for North Tyneside to become a Marmot Place, the development of Neighbourhood Health and why the VCSE sector will be vital to the success of both.

We’ll also look back at VODA’s work over the past year and recognise some of the fantastic contributions being made across our sector with the VODA VCSE Sector Awards.

Autumn and winter sessions are now underway with the ORBIT Project!

If you work with, care for or support a young person aged 11-19, why not encourage them to get involved?

Our free weekly sessions provide a safe, welcoming space where young people can socialise, build confidence and try new activities. Whether it's a game of pool, arts and crafts, tabletop games, music or simply spending time with friends, there's something for everyone.

North Tyneside VODA is looking for an experienced senior leader to join us as Interim Chief Executive Officer, starting on 23 November 2026 for an initial six-month period.

This is a hands-on leadership role at an important time for VODA. You’ll provide stability and direction for our staff and organisation, maintain momentum on our priorities and work closely with our Board, partners, funders and the wider North Tyneside VCSE sector.

We’re looking for someone who can step into the role quickly, build trusted relationships and combine strategic oversight with a practical, hands-on approach.

Funding Opportunity for Percy Main Communities

The Pride in Place Percy Main programme is offering grants to help bring local ideas to life.

Funding available includes:
• Up to £1,000 for community ideas from residents, volunteer groups and small organisations
• Up to £10,000 for larger projects that bring people together, strengthen community connections, improve wellbeing, create opportunities and inspire pride in the local area

Whether you're planning a community event, environmental project, intergenerational activity, or something completely new, this could be a great opportunity to secure support.

We’re looking for a new Grant Holder Support Officer to join VODA as part of an exciting partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund and local infrastructure organisations across Tyne and Wear and County Durham.

Working directly with VCSE organisations in North Tyneside, you’ll provide practical support and advice to help them manage their grants effectively, strengthen their organisations and achieve their goals.

We’re looking for someone who understands the VCSE sector, is great at building relationships and enjoys helping organisations tackle challenges and develop.

18.5 hours per week | £28,366 – £31,518pa pro rata | Two-year funded contract

National Hate Crime Awareness Week is a reminder that nobody should face abuse or discrimination because of who they are. If you or someone you know has experienced a hate crime, you can report it to Northumbria Police by calling 101 or online, and specialist support is also available.

Connected Voice's Hate Crime Advocacy Service offers free, independent and confidential support, whether or not you choose to report the incident to the police. There is also a monthly Hate Crime Reporting Drop-In at the ONE Centre in Pelaw on the third Monday of every month, 10am to 1pm.
