Last month our mental health carers group made the most of a sunny day and enjoyed some fresh air, good company, and a stroll by the sea 🌊

Carers spend so much time supporting others, they deserve moments to relax and recharge.

The next meet up will be this Thursday - bring your own picnic for a relaxing time on the beach. There will be the chance to meet a therapy dog and do some meditation. Meet at 12pm at Monkseaton Station.

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Carers Week such an amazing time. We had birds, arts and crafts, a museum visit, a sound bath and even a beautiful choir performance 🌟

This week has reminded us how wonderful our community in North Tyneside really is.

A huge shout out to the organisations that supported carers this week - including North Tyneside Council Contours team who donated 10 passes for the leisure centre, swimming pool, gym and classes. Thank you also to Tyne Metropolitan College who donated some hair and beauty treatment vouchers for carers. If you are a carer and are interested in these offers, just get in touch with us.

And to our team who make this possible, thank you for your ideas, help and passion which enables us all to come together 💜

Lastly, thank you to the carers who joined in our events, we hope you had a chance to unwind and relax among friends. Last week was about you and we will campaign tirelessly to make sure we continue to build a carer friendly community.

Thank you to all the carers who joined us for a relaxing afternoon of crafting this week. We held a lovely event for Carers Week using recycled materials to make personalised notebooks and memory books to enjoy at home.

Coming together, being creative and having a chat really did brighten up our day 🖌 🧡 😊

We were out in the community yesterday and had the opportunity to join the lovely Whitley Women Community Choir to talk about the support available for unpaid carers.

We received a lovely warm welcome and spoke about all the services we offer at North Tyneside Carers’ Centre.

If you look after someone and think you might need support, get in touch with us.

When was the last time your story came first?

Today, the second day of Carers Week, we took some time to reflect and recharge in an amazing therapeutic writing session.

Thank you Write it Out for hosting this fun and impactful event.

Are you looking after someone? This Carers Week, you deserve a break too.

If you provide more than 30 hours of unpaid care a week, you could be eligible for a short hotel break through Carefree somewhere to rest, breathe and be yourself again, even just for a night or two.

Hundreds of hotels across the UK donate rooms so that carers like you can get away. New research by Just Economics shows just how much these breaks matter: 77% of carers say their break stopped them reaching breaking point.

You spend your days looking after someone else. Let us help you look after you.

Carers Week got off to a great start with a visit to The Rising Sun Country Park. We had an amazing display by DLS Falconry and met some animals at the farm. Then had a cup of tea and a walk around the park.

Thank you to those who came along - we hope you enjoyed it.

It’s Carers Week and we want to highlight why looking after unpaid carers is something everyone should make their business.

There are nearly six million unpaid carers across the UK balancing work, family and education with looking after someone else.

Unpaid carers provide support that would otherwise put huge pressure on the health and social care system. Carers are literally holding families and communities together.
