🟢 We need your help 🟢

Our Squirrel section is at risk of closing unless we can get a few more adults to step forward and help out.

You don’t need any scouting experience at all — just a willingness to help our youngest members have fun, build confidence and learn new skills. A DBS check is required, and all training will be provided, with plenty of support from the existing team.

Even giving a small amount of time can make a huge difference and help keep the section running for the children who love it so much.

If you’ve ever thought “I could help with that” — now really is the time.
Please message us or speak to one of the leaders to find out more 💚

This is Ryan and Luca. Two of our cubs at 1st Wallsend

Both boys have found friendships a bit tricky over the years, and when they first went on camp together as Cubs… well, let’s just say they weren’t each other’s biggest fans 😅. They struggled, they clashed, and it looked like they might spend the whole camp at opposite ends of the field.

But then something brilliant happened.
They sat down, talked it out, and chose to be friends. 💛

From that moment, everything changed.
They’ve encouraged each other, supported each other, and become the kind of friends who cheer each other on without hesitation. Watching them grow together has been nothing short of amazing, and I’m so proud of them both. Luca even managed his first trip down the mine at Beamish today with Ryan's support!

At 1st Wallsend Scouts, this is exactly what we’re all about – giving young people the space, skills, and confidence to build real friendships. Not perfect ones, not instant ones, but honest, resilient, learn-as-you-go friendships that last.

Here’s to Ryan and Luca… and to every young person learning how to be a good friend, one campfire chat at a time. 🔥❤️
