We've just created our page so missed the chance to share that last week we celebrated International Men's Day. While our organisation is fully-inclusive and we're looking forward to opening our doors to everyone, we'd like to recognise where the movement we're a part of started. Men's Sheds originated in Australia in the 80's as a way for men to come together, find camaraderie and improve their mental health. A mere 40 years later and there are Sheds all over the world, and over 30,000 shedders coming together in the UK every week.
Put a bunch of guys in a room together and you might get silence; throw in an old lawnmower and everyone will have an opinion and want to get involved in fixing it. Talking shoulder to shoulder, working on a common goal seems to be our way and allows us to open up more comfortably than sitting across a table.
