Beat the Street Salford A free, fun game for the community of Salford to see how far you can walk, cycle and wheel around your area!

Beat the Street is a real life walking, cycling and running game for a whole community. Salford from Wednesday 28th September – Wednesday 16th November 2016. People score points and win prizes by walking, cycling or running from point to point and tapping a registered and activated Beat the Street RFID (Radio Frequency ID) card on sensors (Beat Boxes) which are placed on lamp posts across the dedicated routes where the game is being played. Beat the Street cards are similar to an Oyster card. A player taps their Beat the Street card at various points on their way to and from work, school and to the shops. Registered players can win regular spot prizes for a ‘Lucky Tap’ on a Beat Box. The more Beat Boxes you tap, the further you travel and the greater your chance of winning a prize.

What a sensational start to The Castle Community Centre in Eccles Weekend of Summer Fun!
Kicking things off with a Playstreets, everyone had an absolute ball riding, drawing and playing in the street. Something many of the kids had never done before!
A huge thank you to Bee Pedal Ready for coming down and holding a bike repair workshop. Fantastic to see so many bikes fixed up and ready to ride again.
Next we headed down to Ivy Street Park for a litter pick, filling up countless bags and leaving the park sparkling and ready for the big Picnic in the Park!
Garden Club legend Paul then led two walks exploring the green and blue spaces of Eccles, it was lovely to get out and see all the beautiful trees, flowers and even some fish!
A wonderful day for the community being outside and getting active!

Our EC Sophie had a glorious time taking the Salford Loaves and Fishes ESOL team out for a walk and talk this morning!
Not only did they collect points for their team but had a lovely chat about what makes them happy (summer, the ocean, wearing shorts!), what they love about Salford (Peel Park, The Museum, walking in the green spaces) and shared memories of their home countries (the beach in Australia and Brazil, the hiking in Hong Kong and the delicious food in Spain).
The true spirit of Mindful Miles was enjoyed today, a lovely walk exploring Salford while sharing stories and connecting with community.

The Manchester Road Runners slowed things down last night for a sunset stroll around Peel Park. Chatting and connecting with your mates is what Mindful Miles is all about and team MRR Walk and Talkers loved getting to do so without having to don their running shoes for a change!
