Fit for the Future Update: End of Month Four 📆

Whisper it… the end of Phase One is nearly here 👀

Over the past four months, our contractors have been working incredibly hard through the summer heat to bring Phase One of our Fit for the Future project to completion - and we are now just a few weeks away! 👷‍♂️

By the end of September, we will be welcoming patients into 9 brand new en-suite bedrooms, alongside a beautiful new Garden Room and improved facilities. Meanwhile, work will move into Phase Two, transforming our remaining spaces and 7 bedrooms.

We can’t wait to show you the results of the last few months’ work - a once-in-a-generation project that will help ensure we can continue to provide the very best hospice care to patients and families across our community.

Thank you for your patience, kind words and support while this work has been taking place. 💚

Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting updates later this month!

Good Luck Matthew!💚

In April next year Matthew Bradbury will be taking on the London Marathon in support of Wakefield Hospice.

Matthew said🗣️ “Wakefield hospice is very close to my heart after they cared for my Grandma a few years ago. The compassion and support they gave all our family will never be forgotten, so being able to give something back means a lot to me.

“I’m also really proud to be following in my sister’s footsteps after she ran the London Marathon for Wakefield Hospice in 2025, helping to raise awareness of the incredible work they do every single day.

“I’m training with Joe Ralphs Gym and Elevatefitness to make sure I’m as prepared as possible for the big day, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

The annual fundraiser is returning for 2026, so if you’d like to enjoy a delicious Afternoon Tea while supporting Wakefield Hospice, to place your order please comment on Kay Malleys recent post.

A huge thank you to Kay, Louise, their family and friends, and everyone who continues to support this wonderful fundraiser. 💚
