Last week, as well as delivering assemblies introducing the chaplaincy work we started on Monday at Silcoates, Beckie was also invited to speak at the school's wonderful harvest festival! She highlighted the importance of being thankful for the good gifts God has given us, and sharing them with others.

A very busy week for the team
New school and new lessons 👩‍🏫
Thought we'd share the email we had following our new bespoke lesson 💚 (bit of a longer read but worth it 🙂)

"I wanted to express our sincere gratitude for Steph and Rob visiting our school to deliver the sessions on Christian denominations to the Year 10 classes this week.

The sessions were engaging, well-structured, and perfectly pitched for our students. In particular, the taste test activity was a fantastic touch, it engaged the students right away and made a complex topic both accessible and memorable (they have been talking about it all week and asking when The Cross Project are coming in again!)

Feedback from the students has been overwhelmingly positive. Many have specifically mentioned that they now have a much clearer understanding of the differences and unique practices across the various Christian denominations, which will be invaluable for their learning moving forward.

Thank you once again for your time, energy, and enthusiasm, I cannot tell you how much it is appreciated

This week, Rob and Steph taught 2 double (2 hour!) GCSE Religious studies lessons at Outwood Academy City Fields. The lessons, on the topic of Christian Denominations, took the students through church history from the very start of Christianity all the way through to the present day. Along the way we highlighted and explained the differences and similarities between the beliefs and practices of various Christian denominations. Students listened to different worship music, saw lots of pictures of inside churches and could see some real life religious objects and artefacts too.

We are so grateful for the warm welcome from City Fields and the genuine interest and engagement from the students. It was such a joy to teach them!

We are an ecumenical team, with the team, trustees and volunteers spanning the breadth of the church family.⛪

How would you explain the diversity of the church family to young people?

That is our challenge this week as we teach a new lesson about denominations.

Playdough Pictionary is a firm favourite at The CROSS Project and it's featured this week both in clubs and lessons! Young people have loved making and guessing, there have been many laughs and lots of fun along the way.
