Today’s delivery took us to see Dmitry Fedotov, CEO of The Youth Association based in Wakefield. We were thrilled to hand over 6 x Windows 11 Pro laptops to support the incredible work they do across West and South Yorkshire.

If you don’t know about The Youth Association, they are out on the front lines doing vital, life-changing work with 13-19 year olds. They don't just sit in an office; their youth workers are out on the streets, building trusting relationships with some of the hardest-to-reach groups.

From providing practical mental health support through GP and college referrals, to tackling street crime, their impact is massive. We really love their targeted programs too:

** 'Future Man' – supporting boys and young men to explore masculinity, build a positive identity, and develop healthier behaviours.

** 'Her Future' – empowering girls and young women to build confidence, self-worth, and challenge inequality.

The problem we solved today - The charity's office laptops had reached the end of their life in every way. The next step would have been a trip to Currys to buy 6 new ones — a huge expense that would have instantly blown their budget. By delivering these 6 refurbished laptops today, we’ve saved the organisation over £3,500! That is £3,500 that can now be redirected right back into the community.

How the dots Were connected - This collaboration wouldn’t have happened without the amazing Claire Sutherley, Managing Director of We Are Wakefield. Claire spotted the opportunity, and put Dmitry and us in touch. Thank you so much, Claire!

A Huge Thank You to Our Donors - None of this is possible without the hardware. A massive shout-out to Simpson Associates in York for their incredibly generous (and not their first!) laptop donation. Simpson Associates is an award-winning data transformation and AI consultancy, and their continued support makes a real difference to local charities.

And finally, a big thank you to our Paul, Treasurer and Trustee at Wakefield Technology 4 All. Paul received these laptops and worked his magic to completely refurbish all 6 of them in just 2 days. What a guy!

Best of luck to Dmitry and the whole team at The Youth Association — keep doing what you do (since 1904)!

Today’s delivery was to a top, top guy in WF1 — let’s call him Tom.

I’d genuinely love to tell you Tom’s full story — what he’s overcome, where he’s come from, where he’s got to, and why this laptop is going to make a difference — because he’s an example to us all, but some stories are best kept private.

What I can say is this: everyone needs help from time to time, and Tom has had his sister looking out for him every step of the way — helping with things like food, supported accommodation and bus passes, and generally helping him get back on his feet. In fact, it was his sister that found us online.

Until today, Tom had been trying to manage everything on his phone — applying for jobs, filling in forms and trying to move his life forward. Now he has a laptop of his own.

Good luck Tom — we wish you the very best for the future.

If you can’t tell from the photo… we’re in Normanton again 😄

This afternoon’s delivery was for a Year 10 student — let’s call her Georgina — following a referral from Rosie in the NHS School Nursing Team.

Georgina has a number of health conditions which can sometimes make life outside the home more difficult, but one thing she absolutely loves is being creative. In fact, she’s currently writing a book.

Until now, she’d been writing it all in the notes app on her phone - but not anymore.

There was definitely some excitement in the house this afternoon as Georgina received her own laptop. With GCSEs getting closer, having proper access to a laptop is going to make a huge difference both academically and creatively.

Good luck with the book Georgina — we want a signed copy when you’re published!

Delivery to South Elmsall this afternoon for Ann and Steve (not their real names).

Both are currently looking for work and trying to improve their situation, with grand plans around further education and building new skills too. The problem was simple — they didn’t have a laptop between them, which in 2026 makes even basic things like job searching, online forms and building a CV much harder than it should be.

They do now!

It’s only one laptop, but it’s a start, and hopefully something that helps them move forward a little easier.

We wish you both all the very best for the future.

Yesterday’s delivery was in Normanton to, let’s call her, Tracy.

This laptop request came through a referral from an NHS support worker. The laptop will support Tracy and her family, but mainly Tracy herself.

Due to a number of health conditions, 'going to work' isn’t really an option right now — but this is 2026 and many people can work from home… well, they can if they actually have a laptop, which Tracy didn’t.

Now she does 💻

When asked if she needed any help setting it up, Tracy replied, “No need, my brother can help — he’s a bit of a nerd.”

I politely pointed out there’s absolutely nothing wrong with nerds 😂😂

Good luck Tracy, and thank you to Susie for the referral.

Today’s delivery took us a fair distance… a trip on the M1 and into the hundreds of miles.

This one came through a referral from Wakefield Council social services, for a young student currently studying at Wakefield College and a permanent resident in the Wakefield district.

Due to safeguarding circumstances, this person has been temporarily relocated, but was determined to continue with their course and keep things moving forward.

That’s where we were able to step in.

A laptop now means they can carry on studying, stay connected, and keep some normality during a challenging time.

All of our deliveries matter — but this one felt that little bit more 'importanter'.

Last week we had a collection by a Teaching Assistant — Mrs Thickett — from a primary school in Horbury, for a SEN non-verbal student who will benefit from having access to their own device.

Then this morning, we made a delivery over to Eastmoor to support a young couple who are looking to move into the IT industry, learning about cyber security and hosting technologies. They’ve had a tough time recently and are now focused on rebuilding and moving forward.

Thank you, as always, to our generous donors — including the Wetherby District Lions Club — for making these donations possible.

Another couple of laptops delivered and put to good use.

We were pleased to drop off two laptops recently to support the fantastic work of the Castleford Tigers Foundation.

The foundation recently received a grant from the Wakefield Digital Inclusion Network, and they’re keen to use that funding directly on delivering their community sessions — not having to spend a large portion of it on new laptops. When we met with Foundation Manager Amy Hardman, she explained how having the right tech in place makes a real difference to the programmes they run across Castleford.

At Wakefield Technology 4 All, a lot of our work focuses on supporting individuals and families, but partnering with organisations like the Castleford Tigers Foundation means the impact spreads even further into the community.

Thank you to our donors, Alan and Mike - your donations will make a substantial difference to the people of Castleford.

Saturday afternoon delivery to Havercroft to help an 11-year-old — let’s call her Steph — who is in the final months of Year 6 and preparing to start high school in September.

With homework increasingly delivered through Microsoft Teams, trying to complete work on a mobile phone just isn’t practical. Steph now has her own refurbished laptop and is all set for the move up to high school. Steph was really pleased with her new laptop.

Steph's little brother was also very keen to see us. He rushed out of the house so quickly that he tripped out of the door, tumbled over the garden wall, did a somersault and landed in a patch of nettles.

Don’t worry — he’s absolutely fine after cuddles with his Dad! 😄

Another laptop delivered and another happy recipient.
