There is a table tennis group using Jubilee Hall unit 12:00, if you require DISABLED PARKING, please do not attend until after this time as there is none available. We apologise for any inappropriate caused. DISABLED TOILETS are still accessible from 11:00.

Jubilee Hall Park Field is wet but passable after the weekend’s rain, so, if you would like to enjoy your picnic on the grass, be sure to ONLY ACCESS VIA THE PATH TO THE LEFT, and bring blankets or chairs to sit on to avoid muddy bums!

On Friday, members of the Neighbourhood Board for the Lupset - Pride in Place project visited Trinity Walk Wakefield to choose items they believe residents will be able to enjoy and benefit from, that will make up the contents of a prize hamper to be drawn on the Pride in Place page.

Simon Lightwood MP, Ward Councillor, Paul Jackson, and the Deputy Chair for Lupset Pride in Place, Georgina Darling, were assisted at Lush - Trinity Wakefield, The Works, TK Maxx, and Tenpin to secure self-care items, kids’ craft materials, 6 games of bowling and £30 of vouchers to be spent on food and drink at TenPin, as well as essential food and cleaning items from Sainsbury's.
The hamper also contains a One4all voucher, intended to be redeemed against clothes.

The completed hamper will be posted soon; to be in with a chance to win, entrants must follow these steps:
1. Like the Lupset Pride in Place page!
2. Share the Hamper Prize post!
3. Important! You must live or work at an address in Lupset! This is because we will be delivering the hamper to the winning address- if we cannot deliver to a Lupset address, we will draw again!

Another successful meeting by the Lupset Pride in Place Board was held at St George's Community Centre this week.

There was excellent feedback from Members, Katherine and Gareth, on the views of Lupset’s Young People about how our funding should be spent, with overwhelming support for a community space for young people and clean-up operations!

Today, members of the Lupset Pride in Place Board spent time at St George's Community Centre, engaging with residents and enjoying the sunshine for their Fun Day!

𝐋𝐮𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠

The new Lupset Pride in Place Board met for the first time on Friday at Jubilee Hall, bringing together residents, community organisations, public services and local representatives to begin shaping a long-term vision for the future of Lupset.

As part of the Government's Pride in Place programme, Lupset is set to benefit from up to £20 million of investment over the next decade. A key principle of the programme is ensuring local people have a direct say in how that investment is used and how their community develops.

During the meeting, Board members discussed local priorities, heard from community leaders and partners, and explored both the opportunities and challenges facing the area. The Board also agreed to establish a People's Panel, giving residents a direct voice in informing future plans and priorities, and elected local resident Georgina Darling as Deputy Chair.

The discussions highlighted the many strengths of Lupset, including its strong community spirit, dedicated local organisations and commitment to working together to deliver positive change.

This is an important first step, and we look forward to continuing to work with residents and partners to turn local ideas into action over the years ahead.

𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫'𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫

It’s been an eventful start to the new Lupset Pride in Place Board.

I was asked to chair Lupset Pride in Place board in March this year and by mid-March a small group of us started planning work on what will become a 10-year, £20 million investment project into the people and place of Lupset.

We got out and about on 1st April at an introductory coffee morning held at St. Georges Community Centre. Here Simon Lightwood, MP, set out the overall ambition of the plan and we listened to the views of locals in the first of what will be many community engagement sessions.

The small planning team includes myself, the local MP, Simon Lightwood plus a small group of staff from Wakefield Council providing the support and admin we need to make this happen.

Through April we worked on planning how the project will be run and how it will involve the people of Lupset. We agreed to set up a board that includes the key community organisations such as St. Georges Community Centre, Jubilee Hall Community Centre, Snapethorpe School, Vico Homes, St. George's Church, the local Police and the DWP. These organisations will bring in knowledge and experience to the project planning and decision making.

We also agreed to set up a People's Panel, a panel of residents to advise, guide and give feedback on the plan to the board. The People's Panel is open to anyone to join.

We have now produced an information booklet that will be put through the letterbox of every household in Lupset. This will give details on how you can get involved.

Other tasks in this first 6-weeks or so have also included agreeing the application process for residents to join the board and People's Panel and initial thoughts about the boundary of the Pride in Place project area.

We also hosted two staff from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, (MHCLG) and shared our ideas about the boundaries, took them on a tour around Lupset to introduce them to residents, meet with the teams at Jubilee Hall and St. George's and meet local shopkeepers. We also took them to George-a-Green fisheries!

So, we’ve made a start, but now the real work begins. We’re going to get the People's Panel and Board going, holding our first meetings. We’re going to agree our boundaries and get sign off from the ministry (MHCLG). We’re going to get our ‘Engagement Plan’ agreed aiming to attend events and community meetings all through summer to get the community’s ideas and involvement ramped up so that everyone can have a say.

Lupset has secured up to £20 million of investment over the next 10 years through the Government’s Pride in Place programme – and local people will play a key role in deciding how that money is used.

As part of this, leaflets will be delivered to every household in the Pride in Place area with details on how you can get involved, join the Board or the People's Panel.

This is a real opportunity to shape improvements to things like local spaces, facilities and community projects, based on what matters most to you and your family.
