Tidying up your wardrobe and got some textiles and clothing you no longer want to hold on to? Don't bin them! πŸ‘•πŸ‘ŸπŸ§€πŸ§£

Consider donating them to local charities, organising a jumble sale or local swap shop event.

Or you can bring your textiles and clothing to your local Bring Site and Recycling Centres and placed them in the textile recycling banks. ♻️

Here in Wakefield less than 10% of your general waste now goes to landfill!

The contents of your Household Waste bin are still sorted and separated at our waste treatment facility in South Kirkby. Plastic bottles are recycled from your general rubbish bin and food tubs, trays, packaging and punnets are sent for recycling wherever possible.♻️

In Wakefield we only use off takers based in the UK to recycle our products, the market is variable and off taker demand for different types of plastic does change. If there is no current recycling market in the UK for recycling the other types of plastic, such as tubs, trays and packaging, they will be recovered and used to create fuel. πŸ’‘

Although plastic bottles are still recycled from the general rubbish bin, we always recommend recycling them in the brown recycling bin instead, because the contents of the recycling bin are of a much higher quality because they are not contaminated with general rubbish and are therefore easier to recycle. ♻️

We also separate the food waste from your green Household Waste bin and treat it through a process called Anaerobic digestion. πŸ₯—♻️

Have you been collecting acorns and conkers this autumn? Why not pop them in to a seed collection bin and help to grow the new forest!

You will find the seed bins in the following locations:

Thornes Park Stadium
Pugneys
Horbury Library
Kinsley and Fitzwilliam Community Centre
Pontefract Park
Glasshoughton Centre
Featherstone Library
Anglers Country Park

🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳

Time to channel your inner squirrel this weekend, if you see one of our seed collection bins across the district we are inviting you to help us to collect conkers, acorns, sweet chestnuts and beech nuts.🐿

Simply place them in the bin and each of the seeds collected will be germinated in the hope they will go on to be part of a future forest.

To find out the locations of our seed collection bins please follow the link in the comments πŸ‘‡
