150th Sheffield Scout Group

150th Sheffield Scout Group We're the 150th Scout Group from Wadsley, Sheffield. We're a very active group with two Beaver Colonies, three Cub Packs and four Scout Troops.

We've also fantastic links with Hillsborough Explorers. This page has info on our Scouting activities for Wadsley and everywhere nearby.

The Squirrels had a fantastic session of den building this evening! They started off with square lashings, a few poles and a tarp, and ended up with some great little dens! They also picked an animal to build a den for using the Lego.

🚮 Clean Up Crew 🚮

Tonight Monday Cubs embarked on a clean up of the local area. In a little over an hour we filled over five bags of rubbish. Our Cubs were enthusiastic and we are certain they would still be out there now given half a chance - it took a lot of encouragement to get them to stop picking up litter and focus on getting back to the Hut on time 🫶🏼

We saw several examples of them rushing to pick up a piece of litter first or comparing their finds with one another. Who knew litter picking could become such a competitive sport? 😂 Particular “highlights” the Cubs were proud to tell me about were a pizza box, a pencil, beer bottles (various brands) and a used nappy!

Thank you once again to our parent helpers who gave their time this evening to support us. We also had shouts of “well done” from some cyclists as they went past us, so it’s pleasing to know our efforts did not go unnoticed.

Thursday Scouts celebrated another 18 year old birthday via a "hold my car keys whilst I make a seamless transition from Young Leader to an Adult Leader in a blink of an eye" (and a DBS check). It has been great pleasure having you with us and watching you grow and develop your leadership style led by kindness when teaching youngsters. Have a greatest of all birthdays and we look forward to seeing you after the exams.

Thursday Beavers 🦫

This week we left the hut and the weather was surprisingly kind! We managed to dodge any showers and have a pleasant walk through Rivelin and a paddle at "the chair". All the children had a brilliant time.

We apologise for any soaking wet socks and trousers. But in our defence, we did warn you they may go paddling!

🧑‍🍳 Monday Cubs cooked up a storm this evening working towards their chef badge as they prepared and cooked spaghetti bolognaise. They all worked together demonstrating excellent team work taking it turns to contribute to the process. Everyone got to reap the benefits of their efforts at the end of the evening 🍝 and it’s fair to say we have an aspiring chef or two amongst the pack. We ended the evening by singing happy birthday to Edward 🎉
