🌱 SOIL TALK 🌱

On Thursday evening, we welcomed the University of Plymouth to our club night as part of their ‘Returning Stories of the Soil’ project.

It was a really interesting evening, with members sharing memories, family history, and current farming practices while discussing the importance of soil.

A big thank you to the University of Plymouth team for visiting us, leading the session, and providing some delicious refreshments. We were delighted to be part of such an interesting project! 🌱

✨ROYAL CORNWALL SHOW 2026 ✨
This year members had the cubical theme of movies! We were given Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and created a scene based on this. A huge well done to all members who helped with the cubical and the hard work led to a brilliant result of 4th place!

As well as the cubical, members competed in a variety of static entries. Well done to Abi for gaining 2nd place for her ticket, and Ruby for 1st place for her flower arrangement!

Members also helped to serve refreshments on Friday afternoon! It was shame for the Show to be cut short but as a club we are proud for all our members achievements at the Royal Cornwall Show 2026!

🐄 FARM WALK 🐄
Yesterday evening, members were joined by St Mabyn YFC for a farm walk with Henry Mably at Rosewin Farm. It was an interesting evening where we learnt about his flying herd which is based on 3 separate units, and heard about the beef enterprise he runs alongside this. We were also lucky enough to be treated to some delicious food and drinks at the end.
Thankyou so much to the Mably family for welcoming us and providing such an informative evening!

AFTERSHOW UPDATE
Unfortunately, the Wadebridge YFC After Show Do will not be taking place this year. Due to lower attendance numbers over recent years and rising costs, we have made the difficult decision that it is no longer financially viable to continue.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported the disco over the years, we truly appreciate and hope everyone has an enjoyable Royal Cornwall Show 2026.

☕️ BREW BOX ☕️
Yesterday evening, members visited the Brew Box at Respryn! It was a lovely evening where we were all invited to make our own coffees or hot chocolates, and even try our hand at latte art, although nobody was that good at it! We were also lucky enough to be treated to some delicious bakes.
Thankyou so much to David for welcoming us, it was so interesting to hear how a local young farmer has diversified into a new industry, and all the challenges that come with this! Good luck with all your future plans

🚶‍♀️WHELLIES WOTNOT 2026 🚶‍♀️
This week, Bea and Ruby along with lots of other Cornwall YFC members have completed WOTNOT 2026, which was a 120 mile walk of the Jurassic coast in aid of SUsie and Cornwall Mind!

This evening was our first farm walk of the year which we couldn’t have asked for better weather for!
Thankyou very much to Pete Cherry for welcoming us to Tregawn farm and giving us such an informative tour. Members got to see the yard and the dairy, and then went to see some wheat and in calf heifers! We were also lucky enough to enjoy refreshments at the end.
Overall it was a great evening enjoyed by everyone so thankyou again to the Cherry family.
