At the end of 'Volunteers Week' we celebrate all the incredible volunteers in our hospital who really make life so much better for all of us. Patients, staff, and visitors all benefit from the care, dedication, and love that these talented, accomplished, selfless people bring. They have had distinguished careers and are now giving back to society. We are very grateful; thanks to each one.

Special thanks to two amazing volunteers who support the work the Charity does.

Pet and Siobhan, you make all the difference, we love you very much ❀️❀️.

Half a Million Steps!!

At just 27, Anisha was diagnosed with a rare blood condition. This month, she is walking 500,000 steps in 30 days to raise money for people living with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), and she’d love your support.

β€œI’ve been incredibly fortunate” she says. Over the past 15 years, Anisha has received exceptional care from a specialist team at Hillingdon, who has helped her manage her condition and live a full life. Their support also made it possible for Anisha to safely become a mum… β€œsomething I’ll never take for granted”. Anisha would like to give something back with your help. The Charity was more than happy to fund the tea parties on Fleming and Beaconsfield East Wards this week. It is always lovely to see the reaction from our dementia patients, who particularly love the charity funded 'Magic Table'. Well done Toni and the teams for bringing such joy to our patients. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ₯°

What an emotional visit today. Out of the blue, Benita Bairn, a Sister who worked at Hillingdon on several wards over many years returned this afternoon with her two lovely carers from The Burroughs care home in West Drayton.

The visit was to bring thoughtful care bags containing treats, pens, drinks, and biscuits to give to nurses on International Nurses Day.

Nurses on Beaconsfield East, Beaconsfield West, Haematology Day Care, and Bumblebee wards were surprised and grateful. Some remembered Benita, clearly with much affection, which was so lovely to see.

Well done Alison and Sarah from The Burroughs for your brilliant idea and great kindness, to our nurses, and to Benita who thoroughly enjoyed her walk down memory lane. β€οΈπŸ™

Sue Richards, thank you for coming in today with Rita (mum) to bring these fabulous Izzy dolls. Thanks to Rita, Jan, Rosey and Phil for all the help they give you in creating these special treats for children on Rainbow ward. Special thanks to Sue's big sister Kath who sews and bags them up. πŸ™

These really cheer our young patients up, and their anxious parents. They're a great distraction from blood tests, and other day procedures. Well done all πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Our Bumblebee ward children's garden is having a makeover. It has been out of action for a while due to hospital building works, but now everyone is coming together to get it ready for the opening on 1st July.

Yesterday Amy Vermont Carol Price, Matthew Moore, Eva Firmigel, and Sandra Miller from Canon UK came and transformed this neglected border into something beautiful. Thank you guys πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘, we hope your backs aren't aching too much this morning. 🀞❀️

Thank you to Nourish & Go for donating soil, compost and plants to help make it happen. πŸ™. Nourish &Go is the greengrocer/fruit shop outside of main reception.

More posts to follow on the opening, and the total transformation. πŸ˜€πŸŽŠ

This family has suffered the loss of a child. πŸ’”

To remember and celebrate a much loved son and brother, this family bring happiness to others. Martin was a little boy who lived his life in absolute love, laughter and joy, and this family create the same for children by regularly donating tons of toys and games, as well as leaving toys all over the world for children to find. Just beautiful ❀️❀️. Thank you Lauren, Marty, Ella, and Liam for your incredible kindness
