Don’t let the simple agenda fool you, it’s designed for impact.

We’ve built in generous time at our COP Festival next week for the things that make events genuinely useful, exploring what’s happening across our communities, meeting the people behind the projects, and making connections that last beyond the day. From 10am–12pm you’ll be able to roam, chat and get stuck in with 25+ organisations and groups.

After lunch, we move into Discussion Circles by theme, a facilitated space to dig into the questions submitted by attendees and share what’s working, what’s needed, and what we want to see next across energy, food and growing, nature, and the circular economy. It’s a chance to have your say, and leave with ideas and contacts you can actually use.

We’re delighted that Sweetmore Meadow Nature Area are joining us at COP Festival this year.

They are a not-for-profit, community-based project in Church Leigh, near Uttoxeter. They support children and families to connect with the natural environment through outdoor activities inspired by forest school principles, helping young people understand the importance of caring for the planet.

At COP Festival, they’ll be running a hands-on activity making bug hotels, a simple and practical way to support local wildlife and biodiversity.

Four weeks today!

Are you joining us at the King’s Hall in Stoke-on-Trent for the Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent COP Festival 2026?

We’re proud to have the support of Stoke-on-Trent City council, who are supporting the event through in-kind sponsorship of the King’s Hall. Their backing helps us keep the day free and accessible for everyone.

As Cllr Jane Ashworth, Leader of the Council, said:
“The ambitions of the COP Festival 2026 perfectly align with our goal to create a sustainable, thriving city, where everyone can enjoy the benefits of a greener future.”

The Council signed the Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent COP Charter in 2025 and continues to take practical steps towards building a greener, more sustainable city. From reducing carbon emissions and progressing plans for a District Heat Network, to launching a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan and supporting volunteer-led nature conservation schemes, meaningful action is already underway.

Big questions don’t come neatly packed.

That’s why COP Festival 2026 is built around the real issues people are grappling with right now, and the practical action already happening across our county.

This year, the festival will explore four broad themes that cut across everyday life and local decision-making:

⚡ Energy – how we power our places fairly, affordably and sustainably
🍎 Food & Growing – from local food systems to resilient growing spaces
🌿 Nature – restoring, protecting and working with the natural environment
♻️ Circular Economy – reducing waste and rethinking how resources are used

These themes aren’t silos. They overlap, connect and raise some big, sometimes uncomfortable questions.

When you book your free ticket, you’ll be invited to share the question that matters most to you, linked to one or more of these themes. Those questions will help shape the afternoon workshop discussions, ensuring the conversations reflect real concerns, not just abstract ideas.

This is a festival shaped by the people in the room, focused on action, learning and what’s possible when we think differently together.
