The fundamental aim of LHCP is to promote biodiversity and encourage conservation within the area of Leese Hill, whilst creating a natural setting where organisations can educate local community groups about conservation and sustainability. Conservation work on this area has begun; further work may include:
a. Creation of wetland areas (eg by creating new ponds, sowing wetland plant species)
b. M

anagement of invasive species, such as Himalayan balsam. Creation of species-specific habitats, such as an artificial otter holt, provision of nestboxes. Long-term monitoring of species living in the wetland area. Occasional release of animals from the British Wildlife Centre (eg tawny owls), after evaluation of the suitability of the site for that species.

2. To establish liaison with other conservation organisations working in the area with a view to potential shared projects.

3. To promote education about natural history and management of wetland spaces, as well as conservation and sustainability, through working with local schools and other educational groups. This includes education about the impact of human activities on wildlife, both on this specific site and more generally.

4. To encourage participation in educational activities at the wetland site; these might include willow weaving workshops, photography sessions, ecological sampling, sustainable living workshops.
