A great meeting had by all last week,

It was amazing to present John Christie with his Level 5 completion certificate and the completion of his pathway. A pathway is the educational program we use at Toastmasters to give us an ever increasing challenge on our learning journey. Around 20 speeches are required to complete a pathway with some fairly challenging projects in the higher levels. Congratulations John, we cant wait to see where you go next.

John also achieved best TableTopics in our world cup themed Impromptu speaking session. John with some sterling body language, jumped for the header and hit a strike to win that imaginary game.

Jo Ablett won best evaluator, as a fairly recent member it's fantastic to see the improvement and confidence grow in Jo as she does a great job among the more experienced members.

Ian Edwards won best speech, an emotional speech which really packed a punch. As Jo said in her evaluation, Ian is an amazing story teller and a speech from him is always a treat.

Our next meeting will be held on the 25th June at Sessions House, why not pay us a visit and see how you can be a part of this amazing club.

With the recent news reporting that more than one million young people in the UK are now not in work, education or training, it’s clear that many are struggling not because of a lack of ability — but because they lack opportunities, confidence, support, and experience.

Based at Sessions House every 2nd and 4th Thursday evening at 7:15pm, Voice of Wales Speakers Club provides a supportive environment where people can build confidence, improve public speaking, and develop valuable workplace skills that employers look for.

Members gain experience in:

• Public Speaking
• Active Listening
• Running meetings
• Interview skills
• Giving and receiving feedback
• Time management
• Mentoring

There are also opportunities to take on committee roles helping to develop leadership, finance, teamwork, and organisational skills along the way.

Sometimes all someone needs is a safe place to practice, grow, and realise what they’re capable of.

If you know a young person aged 18+ who could benefit, get in touch and we’d be happy to talk you through visiting and joining the club.

This week we welcomed our newest member Wil,

Wil gave a sterling effort in Tabletopics and we look forward to seeing him take on some roles and complete his upcoming Icebreaker, it's great to see new members come through and start an incredible public speaking journey.

We had three guests this week, all from Usk, it's great to see people from the local community come and experience a Voice of Wales meeting. Irene our guest won best Tabletopics showing that even our guests bring experience to the club.

Our President Ryan won best speaker, reflecting on his Leadership Development Pathway and bringing his first pathway to a close, coming a log way from the early nervous days when joining.

Nichola who evaluated Ryan's speech won best evaluator, Nichola has been mentoring Ryan for nearly all of his journey and reflected on the progress made in a fantastic evaluation.

Thank you to all of our speakers, evaluators and role holders at this meeting, our meetings couldn't happen without you but all pay dividends in building knowledge and skills.

Extra shout outs to Ciara and Leti for taking on Ah Counter and Timer roles for the first time and Christopher for his second Ice breaker.

All in all a packed and interesting meeting, we look forward to the next on the 28th of May.
