You may already know, that the grassed area near to the former Upton Fire Station is currently at risk of being developed. Wirral Council are in the process of selling the land to a supermarket chain. The grassed area would be converted into a car park to accommodate 96 car park spaces. This development would;
�Restrict direct access into Upton, for residents from the Woodchurch Estate
� Increase traffic in the local area and on the Arrowe Park Road roundabout.
� Increased traffic will bring increased pollution levels, further damaging the environment.
� We would be loosing more precious open green space to development. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
� We should not forget the detrimental impact another supermarket could have on our loyal village traders. Many of them supported our community during the national lockdown and helping some of our most vulnerable residents who could not go out.
� Increased traffic on a primary route for the emergency services will naturally impact their response times, potentially costing lives.
