Promotions!๐ŸŽ‰

Tonight OC 452 promoted two cadets to the rank of cadet Corporal. These two exceptional cadets have stepped up over the past months, and it has not gone unnoticed!

By supporting fellow cadets, volunteering for tasks, going the extra mile and showing real potential in leadership, our two new corporals have proven that they can handle the responsibility.

Well done to you both, we expect to see great things from you!

For the first time in a few years, our cadets proudly took part in the Inter-Squadron Swimming Competition against other squadrons in London.

We are delighted to announce that we gained a few medals!

Last week, we were honoured to host our first-ever 'Recruit Graduation Ceremony', celebrating our September 2025 intake as they officially completed their recruit or 'first class' training.

Joined by parents, family and friends, the evening marked a truly special occasion as our recruits completed their 'Cadet Promise' alongside our Squadron Padre. This has been completed by every Air Cadet before them, allowing them to be formally part of the squadron.

The week before, they were given their final inspection and drill assessment to ensure they looked smart and ready for the evening.

The cadets were also presented with the badges they have earned during their training, including: First Class, Blue Leadership, Essential First Aid, Pre-DofE, and Blue Radio and Cyber Communications.

The ceremony also included the presentation of our squadron awards. There was a slight delay with the engraving of the trophies, so in true Air Cadet style, the 'best recruit' and the 'Into the Blue' awards were given as paper plate awards! Though they were presented with the engraved trophies the following evening. These will remain on the squadron for many years to come, creating a new tradition at 452.

Best Recruit โ€“ awarded to the cadet who has shown exceptional commitment, effort and progress throughout their training.

Into the Blue Award โ€“ presented to the cadet who truly stepped into the role of a cadet, pushed beyond their comfort zone and embraced every opportunity.

Drill & Deportment Award โ€“ recognising the cadet who has demonstrated outstanding discipline, pride in uniform, bearing and high standards on parade.

Cadetsโ€™ Choice Award โ€“ a special award voted for by their fellow recruits, recognising the individual they felt most deserved the honour.

We also promoted two exceptional Corporals who volunteered to take the lead in the recruits' training. They stepped up and showed great determination. Well done to our new Sergeants.

We are incredibly proud of every single recruit and all they have achieved so far. This is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey ahead!

Massive congratulations to two of our ex-cadets, CWO Harrington (now CI Harrington) and Cpl Adams, who have officially been confirmed as having completed their Gold DofE Award.

The Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award is no small task, requiring a large commitment, and completing 5 sections. Volunteering, Sport, Skill, Residential and an Expedition.

Huge congratulations to our very own Warrant Officer Shoheb Akhtar, who has officially stepped into his new role as London Wing Warrant Officer, taking over from Warrant Officer Wright after seven years in post. ๐Ÿซก

With 26 years of dedicated service at 282, his professionalism, commitment and unwavering support for staff and cadets have left a lasting mark on the Squadron. We have no doubt that he will continue to inspire and support cadets and staff across London Wing. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Although he will be greatly missed, we couldnโ€™t be prouder to see him take on this well-deserved appointment and wish him every success in his new role. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Congratulations to our Officer Commanding Flt Lt Adams, who has been awarded the Mayor of Haveringโ€™s Civic Award!

The award recognises individuals who dedicate their time and energy to improving the lives of others in our local community.

He has been leading 452 (Hornchurch) Squadron for a number of years now, and we are growing in both size and strength under Flt Lt Adam's leadership.

He not only leads the squadron successfully, but also helps young people across London to achieve various qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburghโ€™s Award.

Here he is pictured with both the Mayor and Mayoress of Havering after receiving the award.

We are incredibly proud of one of our cadets who joined No. 3 Sector's band as a flute player during the ATC 85th Anniversary Sunday Parade in London.

As a result, she has also earned her Silver Musicians Badge, a fantastic and rare achievement.
