🩸🏍️ Community Support for Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes 🏍️🩸

Recently, we were delighted to attend a wonderful charity Afternoon Tea organised by Mrs Mary Rzepecki at Amisfield Village Hall.
Mary shared that the idea had been "rolling about" in her head for some time. Originally planned as a small gathering in her garden, it quickly became clear that the event would need a bigger venue due to the fantastic level of interest and support from the local community. Amisfield Village Hall provided the perfect setting for what became a truly special afternoon.
Choosing Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes as the chosen charity was an easy decision for Mary, as her husband Laurence rides for the charity and, as one friend pointed out, "they help everyone."
The event was a real community effort, with family, friends, local businesses and neighbouring village halls all pitching in to help. From donated raffle prizes to borrowed crockery, the support was overwhelming and helped make the day a huge success.
One of the highlights was Mary's five-year-old granddaughter confidently standing up in front of everyone to call out the winning raffle numbers, much to the delight of those attending.
Mary said: "I really do believe it was a success because it was for such a great and respected charity."

On behalf of everyone at Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes, thank you to Mary, Laurence, all the volunteers, supporters, local businesses and everyone who attended and contributed. Your kindness and generosity help us continue providing our vital service across the region.

🎣 Scotty McNicol Memorial Sea Angling Competition – What a Day! 🌊

The annual Scotty McNicol Memorial Sea Angling Competition recently took place in Castle Douglas, with a tremendous turnout. Junior and adult anglers enjoyed a brilliant day on the shore, despite the bad weather coming. Everyone got back in before the weather turned too bad.🎣

The celebrations continued into the evening with presentations at Monty’s Bar. A huge thank you to all the sponsors, supporters and competitors who helped make the event such a success.

A special mention must go to Stuart, Ruth and the McNicol family for their tremendous hard work and dedication in organising this fantastic event year after year. 💙

This year marks the 9th year that the competition has supported Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes (DGBB), with half of the funds also supporting the Scottish Federation of Sea Anglers’ Junior Development programme.

Thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity, £1,425 has been donated to each organisation this year! 🙌

Even more amazing, the event has now raised around £32,500 over the past 9 years. What an incredible achievement and a wonderful way to honour Scott’s memory! ❤️

The funds raised for DGBB help support and maintain our blood car, Scotty Boy, allowing us to continue providing our vital volunteer service in support of the NHS and communities across Dumfries and Galloway. 🚗🩸

From everyone at DGBB, thank you for your continued generosity, kindness and support. Events like this demonstrate the incredible difference a community can make when it comes together for a great cause.

Here’s to many more years of tight lines, great catches and fantastic fundraising! 🎣✨

Thank you all for helping keep Scotty Boy on the road! 💙

🏍️ National & International Blood Bikers Day 2026 ❤️

You might see the motorcycle.
You might see the car.

But behind every journey is a whole team of people you may never see.

At Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikers, every callout starts long before a rider or driver sets off.

📞 Our controllers take calls, receive requests and coordinate each job.
🏍️🚗 Our riders and drivers deliver vital blood, samples, medical supplies and other essential consignments safely and reliably.
💷 Our fundraisers work tirelessly to raise the money that keeps our service running.
🔧 Our fleet team helps keep our vehicles safe, maintained and ready to respond.
🎓 Our trainers and assessors support and develop our volunteers.
💻 Our administrators, coordinators and many others keep everything moving behind the scenes.
❤️ And our trustees carry the responsibility of ensuring that all the pieces come together and that our charity continues to serve our communities.

Some volunteers are highly visible. Others may never appear in a photograph beside a Blood Bike.

But every single one of them matters.

Today, we celebrate the whole Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikers team — every volunteer, supporter, fundraiser, controller, rider, driver, trustee and behind-the-scenes hero.

Thank you for giving your time, skills and commitment to help keep this vital service moving.

This is your day. ❤️🏍️
