Great video which makes a serious point. Rural communities are being ignored.

The Countryside Alliance is launching a campaign calling on the go...

Enjoying my horse in Portugal. An ever increasing learning curve for both of us.

Gathering hay the old fashioned way. Just a small patch but about 20 loads hand raked and transported!

What a lovely view from my bedroom window at Centre Equestre da Leziria Grande! NB laptop in case you thought this was just a holiday!

A bit of a rant here... Wormers! My horses have been pretty worm free so I haven't bought any wormers for a couple of years. So I was stunned to find that one local outlet "wasn't licensed to sell them" and the other couldn't sell them as "the pharmacist is on holiday and we (3 sales people) are not allowed to sell them". Not only that, but i must take in passports for each animal to check that they are not going into the food chain. EU rules? DEFRA overkill? And my Lusitano passport doesn't even have a section re "not for human consumption". And how come it is ok to eat sheep who get wormed regularly but not horses? Do farmers have to go through this red tape when they have 1000 ewes to worm?

Even on a freezing day, the locals came out in numbers to support the local hunt

Riders of all ages and from all walks of life looking forward to an exciting gallop across country following hounds - no animals harmed but no doubt some riders had some scary moments! (and the blue glove was just an enthusiastic supporter)

The Boxing Day meet with the Radnor and West Hereford hunt had overwheliming support from the locals. Extraordinary that with all the problems in Britain, the government chooses to prioritize banning trail hunting?
