Sherwood Gardens, Newton St Cyres, nr Exeter, EX5 5BT
Opening Sun 25st Oct from 1-5pm
Adults £8, children £3.
Home-made teas available.
This garden comprises two steep valleys on a remote site at the end of a cul-de-sac, but only 6 miles from Exeter. The garden sits on Culm Measure acid clay and is surrounded by 1200 acres of woodland.
In October, until mid-November, there are many Berberis and Maples to give splendid autumn colours.
The mature trees, the deep valleys, the sense of remoteness, and the care taken to blend the cultivated and wild plants, combine to provide a magical experience. Much care has been taken to conserve and enhance the wild flowers and trees, and to blend the cultivated plants with these, so as to preserve the sense of the natural Devon.
