Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s DVA Forum.

We had some invaluable conversations about the future of volunteering, strengthening community voices and how we better demonstrate the impact of Derbyshire’s VCFSE sector.

Now the work continues.

We’re currently sifting through the notes, conversations and feedback from the Forum to identify the key themes, challenges and ideas that emerged.

This is an important part of DVA’s role.

We don’t want our Forums to simply be conversations that end when the meeting finishes. What you tell us helps shape our work, identify where the sector needs support and strengthen the voice we take into conversations with partners and decision-makers.

We’ll share more about what we heard and what happens next soon.

Could your organisation help create a smokefree Derbyshire?

A new round of Smokefree Community Grants is now open, supporting community-led ideas that can help people live healthier, smokefree lives funded by Derbyshire County Council, and Uk government.

Derbyshire’s VCFSE organisations have trusted relationships within their communities and are well placed to start conversations, reach people and develop approaches that respond to local needs.

If your organisation has an idea that could make a difference, we want to hear from you.

What a brilliant DVA Forum - and a very special one for our new Chief Executive, Juliet Grace.

Today was Juliet’s first Forum as CEO, bringing together people and organisations from across Derbyshire’s VCFSE sector to share experiences, make connections and talk about some of the issues that matter to our communities.

Together we explored the future of volunteering, community voice and how we can better demonstrate the incredible impact of our sector across Derbyshire.

Most importantly, we listened.

Thank you to everyone who came along, shared their experiences, challenged ideas and contributed to the conversation.

Our Forums belong to the sector, and what you tell us helps shape how DVA connects, supports and champions Derbyshire’s VCFSE organisations.

We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation.

What does it mean to be DVA?

We ended last week by bringing our staff and Board of Trustees together for a day of conversation, reflection, creativity and connection.

We spent time getting to know each other better, exploring DVA's values and behaviours and thinking about where we're already doing well - and where we can do better.

Connection. Creativity. Community Advocacy. Positive Difference.

We also got creative, working together on a collaborative mosaic celebrating the different people who make up DVA and showing that we're greater than the sum of our parts.

It was a great opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and think about how we make our values something people experience through the way we work, not simply words on a page.

YOUR VOICE MATTERS

What is it really like for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise organisations working across Derbyshire right now?

Our DVA Annual Survey is your opportunity to tell us.

We want to understand the challenges your organisation is facing, what is working well and what support the sector needs for the future.

Your responses help DVA build a clearer picture of the state of Derbyshire’s VCFSE sector and strengthen the evidence we use to represent your interests with partners, commissioners and decision-makers.

As a thank you for taking part, everyone who completes the survey can enter our prize draw to win a gift voucher.

Complete the survey here: https://wkf.ms/3UeXN90

Please share it with other VCFSE organisations across Derbyshire. The more voices we hear, the stronger our collective voice becomes.

Looking for funding for your organisation?

Alongside the Derbyshire Grant, there are more funding opportunities currently available through DVA to support local VCFSE organisations and communities.

Warm & Welcoming Spaces Grants

Funding of up to £5,000 is available to help organisations provide warm, welcoming and inclusive spaces during the colder months.

This year's grants offer different levels of support, from funding regular warm spaces with refreshments, social opportunities and signposting, through to larger grants that can help organisations increase capacity, extend their activities and provide an enhanced offer for their communities.

Health & Wellbeing Grants

If your organisation works in Chesterfield or North East Derbyshire, funding is also available to support projects that improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

Please note that the Health & Wellbeing Grants are specifically for eligible organisations working in Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire.

Find full details, eligibility information and how to apply for both grants on the DVA website.

Know a local organisation that could benefit? Please share this post with them.

And if you'd like to hear about future funding opportunities, sign up for the DVA newsletter and get the latest opportunities delivered to your inbox.

A date for your diary - our next DVA Forum is coming up this month.

The DVA Forum is a chance for organisations from across Derbyshire's VCFSE sector to come together, connect with others, share what they're seeing in their communities and be part of the conversations affecting our sector.

Our next Forum takes place:
Thursday 22 October
10am–12pm
Online

With Juliet Grace now in post as DVA's new Chief Executive, it's also a great opportunity to connect with DVA as we begin our next chapter together.

If you work or volunteer with a VCFSE organisation in Derbyshire, we'd love you to join us.

Check if you have your place and please share the date with colleagues and organisations in your networks.

Money raised through the Bolsover Reuse Shop is now going back into Derbyshire communities.

We’re delighted to be working with HW Martin and Derbyshire County Council to share the Derbyshire Grant, using profits generated by the Bolsover Reuse Shop to support local organisations making a positive environmental difference.

The funding is available to voluntary, community and not-for-profit organisations and groups, as well as schools, based in and working in Derbyshire.

If you have an idea that could improve the local environment, encourage sustainability or support more eco-friendly activity in your community, we want to hear from you.

It’s a fantastic example of reuse creating even more value: items are given a second life through the Bolsover Reuse Shop, with the profits then helping local groups and schools bring environmental projects to life across Derbyshire.

Find out more about the Derbyshire Grant, check the eligibility criteria and apply through the DVA website.
