A space to call your own - https://mailchi.mp/tribeporty/a-space-to-call-your-own-17352027

Coworking spaces are often described in terms of desks, meeting rooms and Wi-Fi. But what makes a place like Tribe valuable is everything else: the conversations, the moments of pause, the sense of belonging and the quiet support that comes from sharing space with other people.

As our community grows and changes, so does our space. We are excited to share that we have brand new opportunities to join us with a permanent desk.

An Ode to Autumn: Samhain at Tribe Porty 🕯🍂

As the seasons turn and we move into the darker half of the year, we’re making space at Tribe to honour those who came before us.

Samhain (pronounced ‘sow-in’) is an ancient Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. Traditionally, it’s also a time to connect with our ancestors, remember loved ones who have passed, and honour the stories and traditions that live on through us.

From Monday 26th October to Friday 30th October, we’ll be creating a community altar at reception to honour the season and remember those who are no longer with us.

You’re invited to add something to the altar throughout the week, whether it is a photo, a small object that reminds you of a loved one or pet, or something seasonal from nature. We’ll also have a cempasúchitl flower-making station at lunchtime, honouring Día de los Mu***os, as we have in previous years.

🎃🎃🎃

On Friday 30th October at 11am, join us around the table for an autumnal cake and coffee gathering. Bring a favourite bake, a family recipe, or something that reminds you of someone special.

We’ll share stories, memories, and the little traditions that keep our loved ones close a chance to connect through food, community, and the changing seasons.

Last Monday Veronique Kootstra of Writers' HQ hosted our second Tribe Talk, part of the ‘Get to Know Your Tribe’ series ✍🏼

It was truly a pleasure! The workshop included snippets of writing advice, - free writing with the words ‘chicken,’ ‘love,’ ‘hope,’ & ‘sundial’ - and sweet prompts like vintage postcards used for inspo. Safe to say the inner critic of most of us left the villa 💅🏻

Our next Tribe Talk is 17th November with Rob Conner, who will look at Tax Compliance for Sole Traders. Head to our Eventbrite page to snag your tix 💛

We’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to create a space where people feel genuinely held. For many of us, life no longer unfolds within extended family or long-standing community. We live far from where we began. Our lives are full, and often fragmented.

Community has become an overused word. Something we try to measure, replicate, and package. Something we place in reports and write into plans. And yet, the real work of it is harder to capture.

It shifts from place to place.

It lives in nuance. It resists being standardised.

Introducing A Culture Guide. This is a small, thoughtful, handcrafted guide that reflects how we care for ourselves, each other, and this shared space. A field guide to community culture. An observation from inside a real place.

Our second Progress session at TRIBE PORTY last night. Thanks to everyone who came!

A podcast line changed my plans for the workshop: "attention has evolved to attach to meaning." It got us thinking about how we spend our time, how the mind fills in the gaps, and how confirmation bias can get the better of us.

We used the wellness wheel to look at balance across our lives, because losing a job can be really destabilising, but we're more than our work.

Lovely to have the space to talk in person, and to see new (and old!) connections being made.

Next week is a peer session. And our monthly Tribe Talks are open to everyone. Next up: taxes... not sexy, but much requested! Find out more on the events page of our website.

Tomorrow is our Progress Session Two, Wellbeing by Design.

In the 1930s, researchers spent months in an Austrian village where the mill had closed. People had endless free time, yet they borrowed fewer library books, dropped out of clubs, and some stopped wearing watches. There was nothing left to be on time for.

What they discovered is that work gives us far more than a pay cheque. It gives our days a shape, people to talk to, a sense of purpose and an answer to “so, what do you do?” When work changes, those can quietly slip away too.

Tomorrow we’ll look at what’s holding you up right now, what might need some attention, and one small thing you could try. It’s slower by design for more reflection and more conversation.

If you’re facing redundancy, a career change or just a wobble, come along. You don’t need to have been to Session One.

The Dead Curious Cafe - 8th October from 6:30PM.

A series of interactive talks at the Dead Curious Cafe where we'll explore our attitudes towards, and our relationship with death.

Open conversations around death and dying are often confined to the realms of bad news, frequently in a medical environment, when the conversation becomes unavoidable. At the Dead Curious Cafe each session is facilitated and covers a certain topic or theme. At our next session we'll be thinking about Ambigious Loss.

Ambiguous loss is a term used when there is either no closure after a physical loss, for example family estrangement, or when a loved one has developed a condition where they are physically present but their emotional capacity has altered as in Alzheimers disease.

As always everyone is welcome to come and dive into this broad subject looking at the wider aspects of loss. To find out more and book your spot follow the link in our bio - https://linktr.ee/tribeporty

Tribe Talks
5th October, 6-7PM

Are you looking for some writing inspiration or want the inner critic to back off?! Our next Tribe Talks is for you!

Our next session is hosted by Veronique Kootstra. A writer and workshop facilitator, and she runs the monthly Writers’ HQ Retreat at Tribe Porty.

This session is an interactive and practical creative writing workshop on how to generate and explore ideas through writing prompts, how to develop and sustain a regular writing routine, which will include a brief discussion on possible barriers, and practical tips on how to deal with your inner critic.

Best of all, you'll leave the session with permission to write and call yourself a writer (the louder the better!).

We offer two ticket options to help keep Tribe Talks accessible, while supporting the running of the event. We trust you to choose the option that works best for you. If cost is a barrier at the moment, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, we’d love to have you there!
