📢 Registration offer for OFTEC registered businesses

If you're planning to grow your team or expand your services this winter, now is the perfect time.

From 1st November to 31st December 2026, OFTEC is waiving the usual onboarding fees for:
✅ Adding technicians to your registration
✅ Extending the scope of your OFTEC CPS registration

The offer is available to existing OFTEC registered businesses and applies to OFTEC CPS registrations only. Extensions into MCS, PAS 2030 and TrustMark remain chargeable.

🎆 Bonfire Night reminder 🎆

If you're planning to enjoy fireworks to celebrate Bonfire Night, please keep them well away from your oil tank.

It's not just the tank that's at risk. Filters, pipework and oil supply lines can also be damaged.

Be sensible, stay safe, and enjoy the celebrations.

A second-hand heating oil tank may look like a bargain, but hidden risks can lead to early replacement, compliance issues and costly clean-up if things go wrong.

Before choosing a tank, make sure its condition, suitability and installation requirements have been properly assessed. OFTEC recommends using a new bunded tank and an OFTEC technician for new installations.

OFTEC has responded to the government's latest Budget announcement, welcoming support for households struggling with energy costs but raising concerns that homes using heating oil may not receive equivalent help.

Many rural properties rely on heating oil and can face higher costs when switching to alternative heating systems. OFTEC is calling for greater recognition of renewable liquid fuels, which could help reduce emissions using existing boilers and tanks.

⏰ The clocks go back this weekend

As the evenings get darker and temperatures start to fall, it's a good time to get your home ready for winter.

While you're changing the clocks, don't forget to:
✅ Check your heating is working properly
✅ Update any boiler, thermostat or heating timers if needed to make sure your heating comes on when you need it
✅ Check your fuel levels
✅ Test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
✅ Book any outstanding servicing
