Gratitude:
There’s been a lot of neuroscience on the positive impacts of gratitude. It’s not ‘fluffy positive thinking stuff’. Gratitude done in the right way changes the focus of your brain, beyond positive thinking and lights up in the same way that joy makes you feel.
So here’s how to ‘do gratitude’.
Not going through a list
Not being vague
You have to be specific:
Think of a person, a good thing they did, and how that made you feel.
• Close your eyes (not if you are driving!) and breathe deeply
• Bring that person to mind, focus on them, keep breathing deeply
• Then focus on the good, positive thing they did for you, breathe
• Then focus on the impact that action had on you, how it made you feel.
Spend 30 seconds focused on the person, the action and then the impact
This will change your brain and how you feel.
30 seconds and do this a couple of times a day.
Simple, practical, not fluff!
AND: If you write it down it has an even bigger impact.
AND: It costs nowt!
