Musical theatre society in Nottingham 🎭 Next performing: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - Wed 2nd -Sat 5th June 2027. Formerly Carlton Operatic Society

Carlton Musical Productions was founded in 1921. In 2014 we moved from performing at the Nottingham Playhouse (where we had performed since 1986), to the Theatre Royal Nottingham, with the regional premier of Sister Act, followed by another regional premier of Legally Blonde the Musical in May 2015. In 2020/21 the society registered with the Charity Commission of England & Wales, and are now a charity. Our objectives are included in our new constitution: "To promote and improve general education in relation to all aspects of the art of drama and musical theatrical performance for the public benefit." Registered Charity Number: 1194116

In 2026 we changed our name from Carlton Operatic Society to Carlton Musical Productions. As an amateur musical theatre society, we audition for new members annually, and details of how to get in touch with us to join or take part can be found on our website, or here on our page. Please like the page to keep up to date with ticket information and society events!

In May we were privileged to perform the musical Come From Away, telling the stories of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, and the passengers on the 38 flights diverted there in the aftermath of the attrocities committed in the United States on 11th September 2001.

As part of the preparation for that show, we heard the stories of many people with conenctions to the East Midlands who were impacted by the trafic events of that day. You can see those stories on our website and youtube channel:
