Join us for a hands on sailing adventure aboard our restored sailing herring drifter, the Swan LK 243

Built at Hay's Dock in 1900 as a herring drifter, "Swan" now operates as a sail training and crewed charter vessel during the summer months and provides interesting 'hands-on' experiences on one to multiday trips.

Another performer profile for you this evening ahead of our fundraising concert - which is now only 10 sleeps away!

We couldn't have a music concert without inviting the incredible Maggie Adamson - not only a world class musician and sailor, but also past skipper of Swan. We've very excited that Maggie will be accompanied by the very talented Kirsten Gifford on piano.

Did you know we're running a raffle which will be drawn at our Charity Concert on 6th November? Even if you can't make it to the concert, you can buy tickets now for the raffle.
Local businesses have been so generous in their donations of prizes and we'd like to share just a few of them here - there are plenty more which we'll share next week.
Tickets are £1 each or £5 per book - only available to over 16's under lottery licence regulations. Drop us a PM if you'd like to reserve yours, buy at the Malakoff Shop, or drop along 14 Alexandra Building in Lerwick between 9am and 1pm on Thursday 29th October.

Swan has been used for a whole range of purposes - not just sailing, though she is very good at that!
Back in 2023, Fair Isle knitwear designer and regular Swan volunteer, Mati Ventrillon used Swan as a backdrop for a photo shoot to promote her beautiful designs.
Photographer Daan Craanen took the opportunity to get in some additional shots from the dinghy.

Swan is a perfect size and set up for manoeuvring in an around the sheltered inlets around the Shetland coast.

The Swan Trust would like to offer an additional well deserved congratulations to Beenie-Ann Wood from Muckle Roe who was presented with the 2026 Vevoe Trophy at the end of season event last night.
The Vevoe Trophy is presented each year to the trainee who the Swan crew identify as having shown an outstanding dedication to sail training and teamwork through the season, and is presented in memory of Willie o Vevoe who's family sailed the Swan as a fishing vessel for over 50 years.
Beenie Anne was described as ‘someone with a truly infectious personality.’ Her positive attitude and supportive nature was highly praised and her pro-active willingness to get involved with every task on board was commended.
Her inclusive approach to life on board, making sure everyone was involved and welcomed in all activities was noted, as was her enthusiasm, initiative and contagious energy to get everyone singing, dancing, swimming and enjoying themselves. Beenie-Ann made an incredible contribution to life on board for her crew mates and is a worthy winner of the Vevoe Trophy.
