Welcome to the Rushden Branch of The Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Armed Forces charity and one of its largest membership organisations. Members get together through the network of branches and clubs all over the country and overseas to participate in social, fundraising and welfare activities. Rushden Branch meets on the second Monday of the month at the Rushden Athletic Club, Newton Road, Rushden, NN10 0HF

Membership is open to everyone. If you have an interest in the objectives of the Legion and want to help and support those who have served and their families, come and join us. Legion membership ensures that

Remembrance is kept alive and the sacrifices our brave Service men and women have made are never forgotten. The ex-Service community have a voice and their concerns are brought to the public eye. Becoming a member also provides the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities and events held locally, regionally and nationally throughout the year.

25/04/2026

We regret to inform you of the sad passing of David 'Lofty' Plattern, who died in his home on 23rd April 2026; he was 75 years old.

Lofty was a proud Army veteran, a very popular gentle giant and a true gentleman. For many years he was involved in various community activities, one of which was as a member of Royal British Legion, where he rose to become Surrey County Chairman. He was also a member of RBL Rushden Branch.

The family is in the process of arranging the funeral and details will be notified as soon as they are known. They have asked in the meantime for no visits or deposits of flowers during this extremely difficult time.

May 'Lofty' rest in eternal peace.
