Suffolk Constabulary and Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner are hosting a series of public meetings this autumn to talk about local policing and answer questions from the public.

For the South Area - Wednesday 21st October at 18:30 Police Headquarters, Martlesham and an online meeting via Teams 4th November 18:00:

County Policing Commander, Chief Superintendent Janine Wratten said: “The public meetings are a great opportunity to listen to the community we serve and understand their current issues they wish to raise with us.
“Having an on-going dialogue with the people of Suffolk is vital to ensure we remain a relevant and responsive police force.
“The presence of my area commanders from the relevant community policing teams at the respective meetings will be able to give more local context if needed as well.”
Suffolk’s Police and Crime Commissioner Tim Passmore said: “If you have a burning question about policing in the county, this is the opportunity to ask it.
“Policing is such an important public service, and it is imperative that the public have an opportunity to have their say. I do hope people will accept this invitation to come and find out more about policing in Suffolk.
“There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and make comments, if people wish to do so and I will be pleased to discuss any matter that arises. I will be joined by officers from the relevant community policing team to give a local insight.”
Meetings have been held across the county through September, and the South Area will be held in October with an on-line meeting in November.

SOUTH AREA: Wednesday 21 October at Police Headquarters, Portal Avenue, Martlesham, IP5 3QS.
All meetings start at 6.30pm, doors open 6pm. There is no need to book, just turn up on the evening.

There is also an ON-LINE MEETING on Wednesday 4 November at 6pm via Microsoft Teams. Please email [email protected] to register and an invite will be sent through via email in advance of the meeting.

Interesting articles in the EADT this morning about the speed cameras on the A12, and the high number of prosecutions between Bergholt and Stratford St Mary.
Along with that is the good news that injury accidents have reduced considerably

Message from Anglian Water

Following months of exceptionally dry weather, three successive heatwaves and significantly increased demand for water, Anglian Water will tomorrow announce a Temporary Use Ban (hosepipe ban) across our East of England region for domestic customers.

The ban will be implemented immediately, then enforced from 1am on Saturday 11th July. Several other water companies are responding similarly to the same conditions.

Why is this needed?

The Environment Agency has reported this week that many of the rivers across the region served by Anglian Water are at notably or exceptionally low levels and reservoirs are at lower levels than expected for the time of year after only 39% of the expected rain fell this spring.

At the same time, customer demand has increased in response to the very hot weather, with smart meter data showing consumption increased by over 25% on hot days. Our operational teams have been working around the clock to maximise water production and supply, move water around the network to where it is most needed, and redeploy teams to fix more leaks as quickly as possible. This has enabled us to increase water production by as much as 30% to help keep pace with demand.

With hot, dry weather expected to continue through the summer, pressure on water resources and the environment is unlikely to ease. We have therefore concluded that introducing a Temporary Use Ban is now the responsible course of action. Acting early will help reduce demand, safeguard vulnerable river catchments and improve our ability to maintain resilient supplies should the dry weather continue through the summer.

There are a small number of exceptions to the ban to protect jobs, livelihoods and those customers who are most vulnerable. Customers can still water their gardens and grow fruit and vegetables if they use a watering can instead of a hose or sprinkler. At present, the ban only applies to domestic hosepipe use. Full details will be live on our website here www.anglianwater.co.uk/hosepipe-restrictions.

If you have any further questions please contact us via [email protected]. Thank you for your continued support
