🚨 URGENT APPEAL FOR BELLA — VETERINARY COSTS ALREADY £2,320 🚨
Our beautiful Bella is back at the vets today, and we desperately need your help.
Bella has already been through so much. She came to GBSR suffering from serious complications following the prolonged use of steroids, including severe skin damage and calcinosis cutis. She is still receiving treatment for her ongoing skin problems and a difficult Pseudomonas infection.
Last Tuesday, Bella stopped eating properly. We tried every trick in the book to encourage her, but she became increasingly lethargic, her gums were pale, and she began refusing both food and her medication.
On Friday, we took her straight to the vets, where she was admitted and remained until Saturday evening. She received fluid therapy, intravenous antibiotics and blood tests, which showed elevated kidney markers.
After treatment, Bella began eating, so she was allowed home on Saturday night. We hoped the fluids and antibiotics had helped her turn a corner and that she was beginning to recover.
Sadly, once home, she stopped eating again. Despite trying throughout Sunday, we could not persuade her to eat or take the medication she needs. Bella has therefore been readmitted today for repeat blood tests, further fluid therapy and more investigations to try to establish why she remains so unwell.
Her costs currently stand at:
• Friday–Saturday hospital admission: £1,550
• Today’s tests and treatment until this evening: £770
• Total already incurred: £2,320
If Bella is not well enough to come home tonight, another overnight stay will cost approximately £1,200, potentially taking this weekend’s veterinary bill to £3,520.
This is in addition to the considerable costs already incurred investigating and treating the damage caused by the prolonged steroid use, her calcinosis cutis, painful skin wounds and infection.
We still do not have a definite answer for Bella’s current deterioration, but we cannot stop investigating while she is lethargic, unable to eat, refusing her medication and showing elevated kidney markers.
Please, if you can spare even £1, help us continue Bella’s treatment. Every donation will go towards her veterinary care, blood tests, fluid therapy, medication, investigations and hospitalisation.
If you cannot donate, sharing Bella’s appeal would mean just as much. We will update everyone as soon as we receive further results from the vets.
Thank you for standing by Bella and helping us give her the chance she deserves. 💔🐾
