At Shiloh, we believe that behind every experience of homelessness is a person with a future worth investing in.

While emergency support is vital, lasting change happens when people are given the opportunity, encouragement, and practical support they need to rebuild their lives.

That's why we're so excited to announce that next Monday we'll be launching our week-long summer appeal: From Surviving to Thriving.

Thanks to funding from the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, every donation made during the appeal week will be DOUBLED, giving us the incredible opportunity to raise £10,000 to support people on their journey from surviving to thriving.

The appeal launches Monday at 12 noon, when we'll share the donation link. Please keep an eye on our page, and if you're able, help us make twice the impact. Thank you!

Our CEO Sarah had a great time with the ROC Student Council last week discussing homelessness and the issues that our guests face every day. They have just launched their Shoebox Appeal, collecting items to support our community. Thank you so much ROC, you are amazing!

ROC Shoebox Appeal for Shiloh Rotherham - Homeless Support 🫶

Our Student Council is leading a heartfelt project to support people experiencing homelessness in our community. They’ve been passionate about this cause for a long time, most recently sharing their ideas with former Mayor Cllr Rukhsana Ismail.

Last week, Sarah from Shiloh visited ROC to deliver an eye‑opening presentation about the vital work they do. This ended with a powerful video testimonial from one of their guests, reminding us why this support matters.🙌

We are collecting:
Wet wipes (water‑based, not baby wipes)
Pot Noodles
Deodorant (roll‑on)
Cereal bars
Socks (adult sizes)
Small juice cartons
Packets of biscuits
Chocolate bars
Jelly pots
Tinned meat
Shoeboxes

On Friday evening, our Chair of Trustees Judy Dalton and CEO Sarah Smart were proud to attend the Yorkshire Choice Awards on behalf of Shiloh after we were nominated for the Charitable Excellence Award.

While we didn’t take home the award this year, it was an honour to be recognised alongside so many incredible charities and individuals from across Yorkshire who are making a real difference in their communities every single day.

The evening was a fantastic celebration of the passion, dedication, and impact happening across the county, and we’re grateful to have been part of it. Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners!

We are blessed at Shiloh to have many committed, long-serving volunteers on our Welcome Team — one of them is Judy.

Judy shared: "I have been a volunteer at Shiloh for quite some time now and I consider it a real privilege to make a difference in the lives of the guests who come to Shiloh. They are often lonely, afraid and unable to find their way out of problems that overwhelm them.

With time and help, they are given hope to see a much brighter future and strength to carry on with their lives. This may take time and patience, but it is so worthwhile to make a change in someone’s life."

Huge thanks to Judy, and to all those who volunteer with us at Shiloh. Your compassion, dedication, and generosity make such a difference to the lives of so many people. We are truly grateful for all that you do!

"I started volunteering after I retired and found myself at a loose end. With my friends still working and all the D.I.Y jobs around the house done I started finding things to do that didn’t require doing, so my wife suggested volunteering. I started looking around and Shiloh required help in their kitchen. I’ve always like cooking so I thought to give it a go and I am so glad I did. I've met plenty of new friends and I get to give a little back. I now help run the Kitchen on a Wednesday drop-in working with some really nice people. And this year I even got to go to Buckingham Palace Garden Party after being nominated by our Service Manager. I would recommend volunteering to anyone that wants to meet new people and give a little back to their community."
