Heritage Shield Women's 5v5

Another smashing women's tournament with four women's teams taking each other on in a round robin. With the growth of the sport for women meaning that mercs from across the country were fighting for the various teams, we can't wait to see the growth of this side of the sport.

🥇 Hellions
🥈 Knightmares
🥉 BMC Banshees

Shout out to mercs from Adversum, White Company and Highlands Armoured Combat

🏆 Most Valuable Fighter - Hamda - who travelled a long way to get to Heritage and made the most of it with her refusal to be put on the floor

In mid-August the temperatures in England were soaring, so it was only natural that a delegation of marshals and fighters descended on Athenry in Ireland 🇮🇪 for 1316 - Medieval Fight Club inaugural Tournament of the Mace and Seal, the first official Buhurt International tournament held in Ireland. Reasonable temperatures abounded. It even rained a bit!

Mary and Danny George were integral in the planning of this event, helping to train a team of Irish marshals, and travelling to support, Knight Marshalling and overseeing the tournament unfold.

Not only that, but Leviathan Duelling made a splash in their first tournament. It’s always great to see new teams coming through, and putting more and more fighters into the national and international arena.

Results:

Longsword:
Ed Wilkinson 🥉

Sword & Buckler:
Glenn Burden 🥉

[Corrected*]

We're heading into the end of August and we're now pleased to share the current standings for the Men's and Women's UK League.

We've had fantastic performances from all of our teams - but there's plenty more to play for before the season comes to a close.

Drop one thing you're doing to improve before your next tournament below!

* At Deeds, the tournament was ended early due to loss of medical cover and could not be completed. On the day, the captains present voted that the event would count for win points only, with no podium placement.

When the results were sent to BI for processing, their system auto-generated a 1st / 2nd / 3rd placement. This was logged into the UK league as-is in error, meaning 6/4/2 podium points were added for Deeds.
This has now been corrected in line with the captains vote on the day and BI Rule 4.1 - Round Robin finals are not scored beyond placement.

It wasn't just internationals on last weekend, here in the UK we had the inaugural Severnside clash hosted by Armoured Combat Gloucester at Gordon League rugby club in Gloucester!

We had 11 mens teams and 4 women's teams take to the field in what was a smoothly run day - it even managed to finish early! Barely a hiccup in sight, which we'd call a successful first outing for the organisers.

It was a good day of fighting for the competitors and we are very happy to bring you the results in full:

Men's 5v5
🥇 Invicta 1
🥈 White Company
🥉 ACG 1

Women's 3v3
🥇 Hellions
🥈 Hell Lions
🥉 BMC Banshees

MVF Men’s
🏆 Daniel Wright

MVF Women’s
🏆 Rachael Steel

We hope that with such a successful opening offer we will see Severnside Clash appear on our calendars again. As always, a huge thanks to the marshalling and secretarial team for helping keep everything on track. An especially big congratulations to Kiran, who passed his marshal exam over the tournament - another 🐝 to add to the list!

As the IMCF World Championships in Denmark come to a close, MCSA GB wants to openly express our disappointment with the International Medieval Combat Federation and the board of directors.

We as an organisation understand that unexpected things can happen at any event, however, the sheer lack of control and accountability at this level leaves nothing more to be desired from the IMCF.

This event has left countless fighters, staff and support volunteers disillusioned, frustrated and angry at the way the event was organised, scheduled and ran.

When the previous IMCF BoD all resigned prior to Belmonte 23, the new leadership asked for support from the community to help them build better for the future.

In spite of that, there were significant failures at Mexico 24 and also USA 25. Each time national organisations had to sit through long meetings where we received more reassurances that those failures had been learnt from and would not be repeated. This event has culminated in the worst IMCF world championship event in memory.

As an organisation our support has been exhausted and this event has diminished all patience and resolve we may have had

After what will be a lengthy after action report, we will be officially writing to IMCF with all of our feedback from every home nation fighter and support who attended.

We would also implore our fellow national organisations to do the same and seriously consider the future with this organisation.

To try and end on a more positive note, we want to thank each and every one of our home nation fighters and support personnel who made the trip to represent England, Scotland and Wales. Despite the massive operational deficiencies of the event, they kept pushing through in the most challenging of circumstances to perform at every opportunity.

A separate post will cover the successes they have had in the coming days.

We would also like to express our thanks to the host nation of Denmark, the staff, marshals, event volunteers and the other national representatives/captains who worked collectively to try and make the best of a terrible situation.

Daniel George - MCSA GB President.

As we reach check-in day and the eve for the IMCF World Championships 2026, we want to wish all the competitors, support and staff a safe and prosperous championship.

Reflecting on our home nation teams, we have solid representation amongst Scotland, Wales and England in almost all categories with multiple world champions aiming to add an IMCF title to their resume.

Here's wishing them all the best and success!
