Parallel Histories Helping teachers tackle controversial history since 2017

Parallel Histories offers a new way to study the history of conflict – history which is still contested, controversial and relevant. Our teaching methodology challenges students to examine the source evidence and debate alternative interpretations before coming to their own view. These are skills which prepare young people with to become active citizens in healthy pluralistic democracies. We are

open to all schools, and we particularly welcome schools whose students come from areas with high levels of economic and social disadvantage. Please visit us at https://www.parallelhistories.org.uk to find out more about the educational materials we have created, our teacher training, and our schools debating programme.

When national exams are completed but the school year has a few days (or weeks!) to go, it's the perfect time to ask students to grapple with contested history that relates to current events such as the US and Iran. Our newest ebook addresses US isolationism and intervention, and there are many more US and international issues in our resource library. Find them at https://parallelhistories.org.uk/
