⚠️CONTENT WARNING: PHOTOS OF A BLOODY WOUND⚠️

When you see animals ready for adoption, you usually see them at their very best. However, the harsh reality of rescue is that many animals arrive in foster care in an unpleasant state. It could leave many feeling hopeless but for animal rescuers, it leaves us more determined to give these animals a chance of a better future.

Kittens, Jackson, Harriet, Ethan, Philby, Julius and Ethel, arrived in RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub foster care last week. Found as strays, all kittens were suffering from a mysterious eye issue. Jackson and his sister Harriet were suffering so severely that they sadly both lost an eye.

Post-op recovery was taking its toll on poor little Jackson and he definitely arrived in his foster home in an unfortunate condition and in need of TLC and a warm lap to curl up in.

Nearly one week later, the Cat Hub and their foster carer are still trying to get to the bottom of their issues, and are going above and beyond to get these little beauties back on the road to recovery. Despite their problems, these six kittens are proving to be the most loving creatures you could ever meet.

We don’t know their history or how their illness will affect them in the future, but what we do know is that everything will be done now to give them the best lives possible.

Happy National Black Cat Day from us all at RSPCA Darlington and District Branch CIO!

Black cats have always been the most overlooked and underrated felines in rescues, and can often take much longer to find their forever homes. However, when we asked you to share pictures of your black cats with us a few days ago, we genuinely believe the bad myths surrounding black cats were thoroughly chucked in the bin.

We promised to share every photo we received, but with over 1,900 photos and videos to share, we’ve had to admit defeat….in the best way! We are overjoyed that so many of you have chosen to rescue and rehome black felines, and whether they are still with us or not, we’ve been touched by the amount of love each and everyone of you have for them. 🖤🐈‍⬛

We’ll link the post below so everyone can scroll through the incredible comments that have been left. And if you feel like sharing more, leave them in the comments on this post and help our black felines celebrate their day in style! 🐾

🐾DEXTER and ZOE🐾

Dexter (black and white male) and Zoe (tabby and white girl) are an outrageously affectionate, 6-7 month old duo who are on the hunt for a forever home via the RSPCA Cat Rehoming Hub.

Proclaimed to be “the sweetest kittens I have fostered!” by their foster mum, Dexter and Zoe are confident, super friendly, playful, love humans and other cats, and will fill your home with the sound of endless purrs. 💙

🏡Dexter and Zoe would like to be rehomed as a pair and could happily live with other cats and young children.

🐾If you think you can give a loving home to Dexter and Zoe, and you live within one hour of Darlington, please email Cat Hub co-ordinator at [email protected] to request a Perfect Match application form.
