Will you take on SSAFA's Warrior Challenge Lapland?

Limited spaces remain to join SSAFA's unique and unforgettable ultra adventure to
Swedish Lapland in January 2027.

Fronted by former elite soldier turned author and TV personality, Phil Campion, SSAFA's Warrior Challenge Lapland will see challengers complete a 25 to 50km trek across the frozen Arctic landscape - all while raising funds to support the Armed Forces community.

Phil said: "Lapland will be a once in a lifetime experience for those taking part. I can’t wait to get out there and champion this epic adventure while supporting SSAFA to look afterthe community that’s so close to my heart.”

Free Wills Month
October is Free Wills Month and through SSAFA’s Free Wills Services, you can write or
update a simple Will online, over the phone or by visiting a solicitor.
Having a Will in place helps ensure your wishes are respected and that the people and
causes you care about are remembered in the way you choose.
Many people who use these services choose to leave a gift to SSAFA, but there is no
obligation to do so. Any gift, large or small, can help SSAFA support the Armed Forces
community.

In 2025, SSAFA's dedicated teams of volunteers and employees supported more than 12,000 individuals through its casework service alone. With over £8M pledged in financial assistance, our teams saw a trend emerging, with more beneficiaries needing support with household goods than anything else. This was closely followed by those needing mobility support and housing assistance.

Here at SSAFA, we understand that starting again after instability or homelessness means moving into a property, without basic household items many take for granted. Essentials like kettles, carpets, bedding and washing machines can be life changing for those facing housing insecurity. Whether securing funding for a deposit, paying bus fare to collect keys, or securing funding for those items that make a house a home, SSAFA caseworkers are there to help, while community engagement volunteers ensure those in need know where to turn.

If you or anyone you know needs support, reach out today. We are here to support you and our Forcesline service is free and confidential. 0800 260 6780

We are open 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Thursday, and 09:00 - 16:00 on Friday. Or talk to our Forcesline advisors online with our new live chat service - www.ssafa.org.uk

World Photo Day -

Facts inform, but stories inspire. This , we want to thank every brave photographer who has enabled the stories of conflict to be told through not just stats but stories.

Every photo comes with profound risk to both psychological and physical safety - an often unseen sacrifice but one that is pivotal in the documentation of the unfiltered realities of war.

To mark the day, we wanted to share four photos, which not only illustrates the bravery and resilience of photographers, but captures the raw moments of joy within the chaos.

Join us in honouring their courage by sharing the photos that have stayed with you.

*The Army Film & Photographic Unit (AFPU) was a British military unit established in 1941 to record combat operations during World War II. Composed largely of professional
journalists and cameramen turned soldiers, the unit operated in major global theatres to capture official frontline footage and photographs.

Chop for a cause!

Sitting around a campfire, surrounded by friends, Rich made the bold commitment to cut his famously long hair in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Living in a small village in the South West, Rich has spent his years surrounded by veterans and wanted to raise money for a cause that would help those in his local area.

Rich said goodbye to his long locks on Saturday, 25 July and has since raised more than £500 for SSAFA!

Thank you, Rich, for cutting your hair to help the Armed Forces community.

SSAFA is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need and our trained volunteers and employees provide practical, emotional and financial assistance to the Armed Forces community to ensure they never battle alone.
