June Meeting – 🖼In the Frame: The Art of Recycling ♻ Join us on 4th June, 7:30, Victoria Institute, for a fascinating and inspiring talk by Peter Frankish about creativity, recycling, and community spirit. Following the sad loss of his wife, Peter began volunteering with St Catherine’s Hospice, where he noticed that many donated picture frames — with or without artwork — had little resale value. His simple but brilliant idea was to invite local artists and photographers to donate artwork, carefully match it with donated frames, and create unique ready-to-hang pieces at virtually no cost. The project became In the Frame, an initiative embraced and developed by the hospice, raising thousands of pounds to support specialist end-of-life care both at the hospice in Lostock Hall and in people’s homes across Central Lancashire. Peter’s talk promises to be moving, uplifting, and full of creative inspiration — perfect for anyone interested in art, recycling, charity work, or simply hearing a great local success story. Competition Bring along “A Charity Shop Find…” — something unusual, beautiful, useful, or amusing discovered in a charity shop. New members and visitors are always warmly welcome. Come along, meet friendly local people, and enjoy an entertaining evening with us.
